I guess this means he is taking the field as QB #1 against the Falcons.

How do u all feel about starting him the first game of the season or should they have eased him in.

If he has trouble would they yank him for Dalton and would that be the right thing to do for his confidence?

What u got?

No chance in hell they yank him. He should start. Cam started week 1. So did Peyton Manning and most other number 1’pick QBs.  Knowing the offense and playbook obviously won’t be a problem

There's nothing wrong with easing someone in to their new role. Some parents choose to start off with training wheels when riding a bike, some parent's go straight to the bike with no training wheels. Every kid has a different learning aptitude and potential. Some kids might need the training wheels, some kids might not. It's your job as a parent/coach to recognize the kind of help your kid needs and adjust accordingly.

We all knew this was coming from everything we've been hearing about Young for months, and particularly the last month.

Now, when the QB2 is announced later this year, it will be way more surprising to some than this.

If Corral wins the backup job that'd be great, but also disappointing to pay Dalton $10M to be a third stringer. I will say I'm loving Corral's attitude so far this offseason, will be interesting to see how he does in camp/preseason.

Dalton was always an insurance policy and vet mentorship. For the future, Corral outright winning the backup job would absolutely be for the best.

Yes, start him in preseason and regular season.  Nope you don't yank him once you make him the starter you have to commit.  I'm not a fan of the instant gratification culture that's been built around QB development. You have to show some patience.

Peyton Manning struggled his first year and more recently even Trevor Lawrence looked like he might bust and then broke through in his second year. Look at these stats for Trevor Lawrence. .  Now I expect Bryce to put up better numbers because he's on a better team (more talent around him), and he has a much better coaching staff.  Look what Trevor Lawrence did after they got him a little more talent and a real coaching staff with Doug Pedersen.

    • What's wrong with Damien Lewis? He played pretty well last year.
    • Official NFL Cuts Tracker Deadline for roster cuts is Tuesday, August 26th. At this moment (Friday, August 22nd) the only interesting names I see are... K Caden Davis (BUF) RB Ameer Abdullah (SF) WR Equanimeous St. Brown (SF) WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (NO) LB Khaleke Hudson (TEN) Abdullah, St. Brown, Peoples-Jones I don't exactly think we should cut anybody for but it was just interesting seeing those names. Khaleke Hudson was on the Panthers' practice squad last year I believe and might have even gotten called up? And of course, Caden Davis just because of the question mark at kicker this season for the team.
    • I'll say 6/10. I don't know that we learned a whole lot about this team during preseason that we didn't already know. We didn't play the starters enough to really get a feel for what to expect. We had one good drive against the Browns, one 3-and-out and two 3-and-outs against the Texans. That's an extremely small sample size across 3 games regardless of performance. My camp/preseason takeaways: Jalen Coker might be the best WR on this team and is certainly no worse than #2. Nic Scourton is going to be a good player for us. Possibly very good. Bobby Brown was our best free agent addition. Jack Plummer isn't an NFL QB. Not even a practice squad guy. Having anyone other than Canales and Evero call plays was a really stupid and pointless idea. Our depth is largely non-existent, especially on defense. The three areas we actually DO have depth are on the OL, in the WR corp. and at RB. I can't fathom why Dan Morgan didn't do more to upgrade ILB during the offseason. We better hope Lathan Ransom steps up at FS because if he doesn't we have a massive hole. For all the hype surrounding Sanders/Evans, Tommy Tremble is still the best TE on the roster. I'm only slightly less enthusiastic going into the regular season than I was a month ago. I think our starters on offense are solid and we should be pretty good there unless Bryce totally regresses. On defense, we're probably bottom 3rd in the league if 100% healthy and significantly worse than that if injuries become an issue. We badly need at least two of our rookies to become high-level players early (ideally one of the pass rushers + Ransom) and at least 2 of our free agent additions (ideally Moehrig + Bobby Brown) to be significant upgrades over last year. Call me pessimistically optimistic 😆
