It's all about the QB's in the NFL now

Gone are the stud rb's that could carry 30 + times. There are some by why bother.

The wr's are also becoming a committee. Right now, the NFL is more and more what some would call a spread offense but I see it more as the Run and Shoot mixed with West Coast.

More teams are taking an NBA approach and trying to run ISO's(isolations) and find the mismatch.

Look at Pittsburgh. Are they a running team? Uhh no.

WR's and to some degree RB's are like middle relievers in the early 90's in baseball. Save your money in those spots and load up elsewhere. Money on your starter and your closer. See QB.

Of course the causes the other change, defense. Look for more of TCU's type defense and crazy hybrids to slow down the passing game.

Expect more 1st down blitzes to avoid 2nd and short which is a great passing down but puts the leverage in the hands..of the QB.

i'd kind of like to see a 5-2-4.

i know i have heard this before, but what person would you want where. explain it to me in detail and how it would be used any diff than the 4 3 with one lb playing the line. would you put

pep

lewis

kemo

tyler/johson

johnson/brayton/brown

I know there are alot of smart ass people on this bord myself included so i will say i am not trying to be smart here. I really just cant figure how you see that. Are you trying to do it to stop the run or as a way of hiding your blitz?

4-2-5

4= Normal D-Line

2= Jon Beason and other LB (Conner or Diggs maybe)

5- corners- Gamble and Marshall

safeties- deep= Godfrey (or Martin)

safety/OLB mix- Davis and Harris

I really haven't thought about that much and I'm not serious about it either. I just thought since we were throwing out all these defenses I would throw out the defense that a few colleges use including mine.

Not really, because the 4-2-5 is designed to be an every down defense, not just a pass situation.

I really think it would play to the advantage of both Harris and Davis, but I wasn't throwing this out there to be serious. Just fun to think about.

Everything runs in trends. The RB will be back one day but how they rules have been made the QB is king. One coach said when a QB drops back to pass he can do 3 thing and 2 are bad. Well not anymore with the crazy PI's and Roughing the QB calls.

    • You know he probably is injured but the whole thing does seem weird.    - Announcers weren’t following the injury and reporters never noticed he was being looked at on the sideline, he just walks to the locker room randomly in the 4th and the FOX team was like hey Bryce is leaving.    -Was in a boot after the game.    -Has not been scene limping at all during or walking to practice.   -Reporters calling it a HAS, but Canales being very vague about what it actually is.    He was playing kinda bad against the Jets but no more underwhelming than he usually is. I almost feel like he and Canales talked and they know Andy has a better shot against the Bills and this was some staged deal and then he will comeback next week against GB.    It’s awfully similar to when he tweaked his ankle but had no visible limp and just showed up on the injury report before the Seattle game a few years ago. A lot of people speculated that Reich didn’t want him playing in a tough place like that right away and they sat him.    I will be interested to see if he dresses as the emergency QB this week. They will probably elevate Hooker for show either way, but if Bryce dresses he will be the real back up this week.
    • I think the Panthers keep it close. I predict a tie...24 to 24
    • It Bryce is still our QB next year id want to bring in Trey Lance as well
