Just saw this over at Football outsiders and thought everyone here should read it.

Panthers fans are telling themselves that they could've made the playoffs if Moore had taken over for Delhomme sometime around Week 1. That's impossible to say, but there's more to the Panthers' success than Delhomme's absence. The Panthers have allowed 10.5 points per game with Moore as the starter, while they had been allowing 23.2 points per game with Delhomme under center. Then again, Moore's avoided interceptions, which has kept the Panthers out of the short fields they faced more frequently with Delhomme's mistakes. Moore played very well on Sunday, especially on third down, but it's the defense that's taken a huge step forward, not the quarterback play.

No "Brett Favre is fading down the stretch again" talk, please. He's played well in two of the Vikings' three recent losses, and the game where he played badly came against a Carolina defense that's been on fire since midseason."

It's worth keeping Fox if for no other reason than keeping the current defense in place!

if fox can get over his oft-retarded personnel decisions, he'll be a damned good coach. i'm hoping he'll have enough fire under his ass next season to pull out all the stops. i would love to see this current offense and defense week in and week out next year.

I agree with you guys. We just got a great spark and now have to end our season. I'm not gonna do the whole "we could have made playoffs if..." but the fact is, you look at the way the Panthers HAVE played in the past games, and it's blatantly obvious that they are playing like a playoff-caliber team. No doubt.

I'm excited for next season. God... I hate the offseason. I can't wait for August to roll around again.

The only reason I am telling myself its ok for Fox to stay is because Ron Meeks is his Defensive Coordinator. The guy is the best secondary coach in the game. I hope we can keep our DBs/LBs together because they form one of the best units in football.

Consider the fact that we have played the Pats, Vikings, Saints, Eagles, Cardinals, and Giants (6 of the top 11 passing teams in the league) and have been at the top of the league in YPG allowed...I like what I am seeing out of those guys.

No poo the opposition scores less points when they don't get the ball at our 20 due to a Jake fumble or INT.

Common fugin sense at it's best.

I'd be willing to go out on a limb here and say the defense is less tired and plays more spirited ball knowing they won't take the field again after 30 seconds of Panther offense.

Yeah I'm mainly in favor of keeping Fox because it also means keeping Meeks. He has made our defense extremely good despite several key injuries. Our secondary that looked like middle schoolers last year looks like Top 3 today.

Not only do we keep Meeks but Davidson. For the past 2 games he has been without both Tackles (both of whom are considered all-pros) and has his Oline dominate 2 of the best Dlines in football. Thats impressive.

If he can make better personnel decisions (Jake is just the latest and greatest) he will make a damn good HC. Now it appears he has a good QB finally. I'm fine with giving him another chance but if he doesn't at least win at least a playoff game or 2 I say he needs to be canned Schottenheimer-style.

      T-Mac is a nickname, Tet is a shortening of Tetairoa. Like you said below... your name is Jonathan, I could see "Jonny" being considered a nickname, but Jon isn't a nickname, it's a shortening of Johnathan, see the difference? And if your mom named you Jonathan for it's biblical significance/meaning, because she was very religious, I think it would be different. T-Mac is Polynesian, so much in their culture has deeper meaning for them, particularly names.  So for his mom to feel this way, I highly doubt it's just because she likes the name Tetairoa and not Tet, it's much more likely than not to be because the name itself has a deeper meaning in their culture.   Particularly as T-Mac himself has often talked about how much his Polynesian heritage means to himself and his family. And no, I'm not saying all this because of how much he's my guy, if he was just "normal american" and his name was Jonathan and he didn't like fans calling him Jon, I'd probably just say tough poo.  It's that he's Polynesian and I know things like names have a much deeper meaning in their culture than they do in ours for the most part. For whatever it's worth, a quick google search.......
