Peter King on Fox

I'd probably get flamed for this but why go after Cowher, Shanahan or Billick?

I believe The Big Cat is trying to mimic the Steelers in every way possible. We already have a dominate running game. Every time the Steelers hired a new HC, I believed they hired young promising coaches (Noll, Cowher, Tomlin) in their upper 30s

I guess what I am trying to say is that if the Big Cat is really trying to mimic the Steelers, I don't think he will go after those coaches.

Fox is a good coach his basic design for the team is what will win you championships. But with that said he is to loyal to his veterans and he's to conservative when he gets the lead. If he would just change those two things I wouldnt mind him back.

I have to say I agree 100%.

Steelers didn't run off those coaches either...

The problem is throughout the league everyone thinks Fox is a good coach. Well except people here on this board. I don't see what the problem is. If he coaches well, we try to make a deal with him, if not he becomes a FA and we look for another coach. For the record I would extend him with a favorable buy out clause, but I also think he is a good coach so I am in the minority around here. I give much much more credit to Dick Labeau that I do Cowher.

The problem is some of the fans on here act according to their emotions and what they heard in the news instead of thinking logically by themselves.

I agree that I see no problem here, just a bunch of disgruntled fans looking for any excuse to hate someone for the season.

The only thing anyone has said that makes any sense in this thread is that Peter King's a tool.

Except for the aforementioned post, I agree.

The problem is some of the fans on here act according to their emotions and what they heard in the news instead of thinking logically by themselves.

And the newcomer is right!

And what do you guys expect people to do? Be happy or indifferent? The biggest reason we didn't get into the playoffs this season was because of a horrible starter at QB and the refusal of the head coach to bench him. Alot of you newcomers need to look back to 2006 and 2007. People were calling for Fox's head for this same stuff...overly loyalty to veterans and Foxball. Dan Henning was used as the scapegoat. 2 years later and we're stuck with the same ole philosophy. Did anybody note that as soon as Fox's job status was assured, he resorted back to the same ole Foxball philosophy on offense. Why not go all out like they did against the Vikings and the Giants. Because Fox did JUST enough to get over. He has this franchise wrapped around his finger...

All I know is I'm tired of this Foxball poo...get his ass out of here!

no matter how much you guys love john fox now for winning these last 3 games, we are still out of the playoffs. John fox in his 8 years or so still hasnt achieved back to back winning seasons! Mike smith of the falcons in his 3rd or 4th year has already done that.

if fox was fired today, and i told you guys the next head coach has 3 winning seasons out of 8, no super bowl rings and has never had back to back winning seasons, you guys would be pissed!!!

Dont get me wrong on this john fox is a good coach for what he is capable of doing. he is the perfect coach to turn around a franchise. his philosophy and gameplan are perfect for a horrible struggling franchise to get back on its feet and start to win games. the problem comes when you get back to a winning level, that philosophy loses its edge. the nfl has evolved and fox hasnt evolved with it.

Which leads to my other point i would like make. i keep hearing people say " if john fox does such and such. i would like to keep him. " i would mind it either.

But the reality is john fox has not given us any evidence he will change his ways. NONE!

He is as stubborn as they come as a head coach. he is also conservative. in the saints game he was stilling running the ball on 3 downs!

to think john fox will change now after 8 years of doing the same thing, is not likely.

AGREED!!! and Fox show us again yesterday he will never change. We have a 7-8 team OUT of the playoffs, up by 13 points, with a young QB that you are trying to get a feel for and what do you do??? - NOTHING but run it on EVERY single playing in the 3rd and 4th QTRs. I mean come on, let Moore throw the ball around a bit. How are you going to evaluate a QB and how is he going to grow/learn when all he is doing is handing it off on every play and 3rd down!!

    • LOL... Yet again proving you can't look below anything than what you see on the surface Mock drafts ARE NOT draft grades They are what people think will happen.  They are mocking teams taking QB's in the top 5 of the draft because that's just historically how drafts go regardless of the grades on the QBs.  Almost every draft expert, even those mocking QB's going high, have said time and time again that none of these QB's actually grade out as those type of picks. This is again, where I say you don't like to actually read what I have to say, because I already explained it. 2022 the exact same thing happened, mock drafts had guys like Pickett and Willis going in the Top 5 because that's just what teams usually do, but GM's listened to their prospect grades and knew they weren't worth taking that high, so they didn't. It's not to say QB's won't go that high this year, but it's to say that they aren't graded out as elite QB prospects.  Mock drafts
    • Have you seen the mock drafts lately?   Most of them have us taking a QB. Just because you aren't high on these QBs doesn't mean the Panthers or other teams aren't.   If you want me to be real I just think you a Tmac homer and all you care about is us drafting him. It's why you get so defensive when people mention other prospects.   Be open to other people's ideas. Nobody in this thread is saying anything bad about your boy Tmac.
    • Oh good lord Interest doesn't mean interest in making a bad trade to take the player, that's why I had such a long post, to accurately describe why those are two different things, but you don't like to listen to that stuff.  Being interested in a player doesn't live in a vacuum. It's very simple... there isn't a #1 draft pick type of grade on any of these QB's, if there was, we'd just take them.  You can't bluff a pick everyone knows you won't make, and trying to trade the pick is the CLEAR signal that you're not taking the QB. Just because the Raiders would have interest, doesn't mean they're going to bail us out of a situation we don't want to be in, they'd be smart about it and just sit put, let us take a non QB as we'd be telling the world we're not taking one just by trying to trade the pick, and then they'd take him at #2 (either with their own pick or by trading less to get that one). Oh, and your point of "if nobody is willing to make the trade, you obviously just take the best QB" is quite literally the dumbest thing I've ever read on here. If nobody is willing to trade up to take the QB, then it's OBVIOUS that the QB isn't worth taking with that pick, so OBVIOUSLY taking the best QB there is just OBVIOUSLY stupid and a bad pick. The moral of it is if there is a QB worth taking, we're taking them and not making the trade.  If there isn't a QB worth taking there, nobody is trading up to #1 to take one, we just showed the NFL how bad of an idea that is 2 years ago, it's really not hard to see. You keep making up this mythical situation where there is a QB who has shown to be worth trading up to #1 for and we'll be able to leverage that into a trade.  But we're the most QB needy team in the league, if we end up with the #1 pick, either we are taking a QB #1 or no QB is going #1 unless we get VERY lucky and two teams in the Top 5 fall in love with one prospect and we can play them off each other and fleece one of them. But again, I can't see that happening, as if there was a QB worthy of that, we're just taking him ourselves.
