Delhomme expects to be with Panthers next season

I'm fine with Jake coming back to the team, but as many have said, holding a clipboard. I think Moore should start next year, Jake is the backup, and we draft a rookie to be 3rd string. Only problem is, Jake being paid all that money to warm the bench might not sit well with management. I think next season could either be a great season or an unmitigated disaster...all depending on how the Jake Delhomme situation is handled.

The money that Jake was paid and WILL be paid is the only reason we, as fans, were subjected to watching this train wreck...yeah he is a great motivator with a fantastic attitude but he will only hurt this team if he comes back next year as anything more than a backup qb!

They way hes sayin it, it sounds like he could come in here and actually have the starting position again... he mentions about he's done enough in the past to at least earn the right to stay here, well I thought that was why he got the extention last year... after the bad game he had against the Cardinals... but after his 4-7 record this year I dont see where he has much to stand on other than being here for support and a back up...

    • I suppose it depends on what you mean as 'elite'. I typically mean someone that can play with lower level pieces around them and still win. There are very few of those.
    • It would obviously be incredible if Brooks came back and just ran away with the job on his opportunities like Rico Dowdle did last year. But any Panthers fan that has been around the block knows better than to go ahead and make plans for that. Brooks has missed a ton of not just playing time but meaningful early career growth in a league that has increasingly devalued the position from an investment standpoint beyond one or two superstars. There's really not any comparison to look back on that lines up with the current iteration of the league at least not favorably. The key thing that this RB room has going for them is our investment in the OL. The highest paid OL in the league two years in a row paired with our staff should make it easier for just about any RB to get into open running lanes. But that is also anything but a given considering our OL was largely middle of the pack last year. In the end it might all be a moot point anyways if we again struggle to establish a viable passing attack.
    • I don't have him making the team and I think same goes for the staff, but they are hopeful for a PS spot.    I mean of course I'd like 3 all-world at RB and every spot, just doesn't work that why. Panthers normally carry 3. dan always talk up Etienne, even called him a future star.....I think Brooks will be fine as a 2 with health pls.....  Chubba can carry a seasons load as lead dawg.    Its fine, I mean backup OGs or CB is much higher on my worry scale(Id even put QB room as worse than RB room too...)
