We owe Crossman 6.5 MILL!!!

from ProFootballTalk.com:

"...Crossman has a year left on his deal. But since he's not being back $6.5 million in 2010, the team apparently was willing to pay him not to work. Crossman has been with the Panthers since 2003, coach John Fox's second year on the job. The Panthers struggled this year on special teams, finishing 30th in kickoff coverage, 29th in punt coverage, 30th on kickoff returns, and 17th on punt returns."

and this has nothing to do with being fired? by that i mean was another thread really necessary? same subject(crossman) should mean it goes in the same thread. i can't believe how much of a cluster fug this place gets to be when Zod lets the offseason rule come into play.

No way is that accurate. Not even this dumbassed franchise is that stupid.

Although if this IS true, this should explode the constant theories people have had that people like Fox and Delhomme are going to be retained because of all the money they have due.

But seriously, no way is that number accurate. That's more than Fox makes I believe.

Um, guys, they're not saying Crossman is making $6.5 mil, they're saying since Crossman DOESN'T make that much, we were willing to fire him (the assumption being we aren't willing to fire Fox BECAUSE he makes $6.5 mil). I thought it was pretty obvious.

This.

Crossman has a year left on his deal. But since he's not being back $6.5 million in 2010, the team apparently was willing to pay him not to work.

Should read as:

Crossman has a year left on his deal. But since he's not being paid $6.5 million in 2010, the team apparently was willing to pay him not to work.

I read that earlier and had to double-take.

    • Lions were never going Freeling over Miller for the same reason we wouldn't have taken Miller had Freeling not been on the board. Miller is a career RT Lions have a hole at RT, we have a hole at LT. If we took Miller, it would have been for him to backup Moton until he retires and/or we release him, so the best case scenario is it would have been a wasted 1st round pick for at least 1, if not 2 years.  At least Freeling has a shot at playing this year without injury ahead of him, he absolutely can win the LT job if he earns it, but Miller would have never supplanted Moton this year unless he got hurt.
    • What up y’all. I like threads like this where we can stroll down memory lane. I remember the insane amount of site traffic pre-crash when we signed Keyshawn Johnson, 06 I believe. Raging about the Cowboys Christmas Eve loss in 05 (Peppers touched that FG attempt as sure as Cotchery caught it). When I found the huddle I basically had a first born baby, now I’ve got one in college and one in high school. Life comes at you fast, but the Panthers and the Huddle has been a steady constant in my life for many years.  Those who have been here, y’all are cool with me any time any where.    Cheers, genitals!
    • This is a weird post since it wasn’t like we got A’s across the board. We needed a QB and got a consensus top 2 player at that position. (I was pretty vocal that Stroud should’ve been the guy but…)  I think this draft we generally got better value. I’m not particularly optimistic on BY but another year in this offense playing with TMac he really needs to be a consistently average QB at a minimum
