Possible receiver Coaches

another name to add: Keenan McCardell. he did help the giants in camp as part of a coach training camp. looks like he wants to be a coach and with 16 years experiance he could help out a bit. he is currently working with the wrs at the shrine bowl.

doesnt have experiance outside of the 1 training camp with the giants last year, but seams to want to coach at the nfl level, and was a damn productive wr for a guy with average abilities.

they do, but they usually start in the apprentice program, and then get experience. The guy would be an assistant WR coach, which isn't the need.

Could always try him. Not like he doesn't have other coaches to help "coach" him on how to be a coach. Gotta learn sometime, and trying him while looking for someone with experience (if none can be found at the time) can't hurt.

we did that with Mike McCoy in 2001, and, well, it was 2001.

it doesn't matter, since he was on record as not being interested in coaching.

And while I've both broke the idea of Lofton and championed the thought of him here, it's not about the guy who's recognizeable.

I'm not calling anyone out or anything but I don't see the logic in going after a guy with no coaching experience when our single biggest need is at WR. Not only are we in immediate need for a #2 receiver but I think now is the time to start trying to find a new #1. For once let this team be proactive instead of reactive and wait until Smith is on his last legs.

I really don't think this team can afford to take that big a chance. If we add a couple good receivers and a good ST/WR coach we could go the distance. I think we are that close.

Just to clarify when I said "give him a shot" (well, I didn't say that, but that's what I meant), I more or less was saying to bring him in, (like, now, not this summer, etc.) and start mentoring him on coaching until a coach is found then let him work under that guy if he wants.

I didn't intend for that to be directed at you exactly. Its not just McCardell I have heard other former players names being thrown around. I just think it's not the time to be taking chances. We need a proven guy. Maybe not the biggest name. Meeks came out of nowhere and turned this D around lets hope we can get a WR coach to do the same.

Oh I know, I just quoted your post so that I could clarify my post in case any others read it thinking I was talking about giving someone with no experience the "reins" so to speak.

I think he's best remembered here for a dirty block to the knee that ended the season (and career) of Kavika Pittman, a reserve on the 2003 D-Line.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
