Can Bryce Young throw deep?

Then at least give me a link.  Can you do that.  I've asked Google.  I've asked Bing.  I even asked Santa Claus.

Tell me why he doesn't have the ability to throw deep.  Tell me why he has only attempted 1 pass over 30 yards.  That's why I can't show you him doing in the NFL.  He's has barely attempted it.

WHY!!!!!!!

So the most direct answer is he isn't attempting to throw shots very often.  He's only attempted 7 passes beyond 20 air yards and he's only completed two of those.

I know all you apologist want to blame coaching, play calling and our receivers for his lack of deep shots.  So when its pointed out to you that Dalton went of 5 of 7 on such throws in week 3 with the same staff, line, and receivers you all just act like Seattle is a high school defense.  While still conveniently dismissing that Minnesota was a shitty defense that we played at home as well.

Beyond that, great resources have looked at the 7 deep shots Bryce has taken and concluded that he isn't even giving his receivers a chance. I could make clips, but it's already there, again by sources more reputable than me.

You're just a lazy apologist with no real excuse for why Bryce can't complete a downfield pass so you defend your defenseless position by shifting the burden of proof to someone else knowing they don't want to waste their time arguing with your ignorant ass.

Mic drop and you're blocked.

Unlike you Young bashers, I'm not afraid to admit anything. Young has looked skiddish out there, but it's not because he can't throw deep, it's because he's a rookie whose head is still spinning and who needs to learn and adjust to the speed of the game. The play calling hasn't done him (or any of our guys) any favors really. The protection hasn't been the greatest, which is also causing him to run around like a chicken with its head chopped off, and that's also made Bryce gun shy and prone to some dumb mistakes. He's made some mistakes from the beginning, like throwing two INTs in basically the same fashion to the same guy, and trying to get away instead of chucking the ball out of bounds, and I'm sure that hasn't helped his confidence either. There's more, but with all that, he seems to be getting more comfortable, protecting the ball better and slowly learning what he can and can't get away with at this level. With more experience, line play and schemes to get other receivers more involved, hopefully we'll see more improvement.

I respect this response and don't disagree with you at all.  You can check my post history.  I have praised the progress I saw from Young against Miami early.  I'm just not going to pretend like he's doing things he hasn't.

And, that's not supporting Tepper, that's stating the obvious. Who gives a flying fug about Tepper's failed business agreement with Rock Hill. That's hardly even football related. It's not materially important to the successful operation of a football team. There's plenty of stuff to talk about and be upset with Tepper about that directly speaks to why we're sucking right now (like hiring Matt Rhule and giving him full control) than his fuging vanity project in Rock Hill.

You lied. And you're still lying. You really lied about D.J. Moore too, but that's more arguable (but, I hated him so much that I drafted him on my fantasy team). Here, it's not arguable. I was never a Tepper apologist, and your insinuation that I was is a flat out lie.

You're mad and flailing. You crapped on DJ Moore every chance you got for not being a number one receiver but would turn around stick up for Robbie Anderson. Just comically bad takes.

You know, I don't have to listen to your lying bullshit. You're a troll, and that's how I'm going to treat you.

His deep passes at his pro day were lackluster at best and if he'd thrown at the combine beside CJ and AR it would have been very clear he's not in their league physically. Easy for coaches to recalibrate their brains and think his pro day arm was "good enough" if Tepper and generic media was pushing the narative that he's some braniac

I mean, that's the game. He was already in the top spot (even Houston's), so why should he have hurt that? The world already knew that he wasn't in their league physically.

I'm not gonna argue his pro day. Scouts had been scouting him for years. It's not a Zach Wilson case where people became enamored over a few passes during his pro day sending his stock skyward. Bryce's stock was already off the charts, and, sure, his football IQ was a marked reason why.

This all annoying to me because I just want to discuss what we’re seeing week to week.  But too many posters here want to weave the imaginary into the conversation as if it were an equal to reality.  I’m no BY hater.  If he does well I’ll cheer and hope for more and talk about it.  If he plays suspect I’m going to talk about that.  I’m just tired of talking in paradigms about shoulda/coulda/woulda.

    • I went to Canes games back in '04 & '05 when you were probably still a swimmer waiting to make your dad a father. There was no one there bc they sucked. Some of the lowest attendance in the NHL. As a Panthers fan coming off a SB season (03-04), I couldn't even believe they put a hockey team in Raleigh, and given the attendance, a lot of people speculated they would be relocated somewhere back up north where they would be supported and not "Mayberry." Seriously, educate youself.  That is reality. That being said, comparing that environment to 2024 Canes would be disingenuous. I was at PNC last year and know how great the current environment is. Comparing the current environment at BOA to 10 years ago is just as disingenuous.  Just bc you didn't witness how good BOA is when the Panthers are actually decent doesn't change reality. Seriously, surely you see that coming from such an elitist environment like the globally renowned world-class city of Raleigh, NC... I guarantee you if you went to a Canes game and a Panthers game in 2005, the difference would be unreal bc the Panthers were awesome and the Canes were (at the time) a moribund franchise. I have been in BOA when the whole stadium was rocking. You simply are young, don't know what you're talking about, but want to portray yourself as having knowledge about things you simply don't. You have a lot in common with modern day politicians and televangelists Like I said, Idiocracy has prevailed... Have a great day too!
    • Let it all out bro.   At the end of the day Charlotte fans just aren't that passionate as other fans. The Panthers and Hornets crowds are wack.    Go to a Canes game and you will understand this. Tell the family I said hi and Happy Father's Day.
    • Dude you have no idea what you're talking about. Best place to live?  LMAO... that's your criteria...  Charlotte gets put all over those lists too... come on man... and those lists have zero to do with sports. I'm done after this bc I'm punching down intellectually here... The Panthers have been bad for 6 years now. You are obviously young and not overly educated based off the "dunks" you're putting out there that certainly are, so let me educate you today on the Panthers. The Panthers sold out for well over a decade straight. BOA has been as good an environment as there is when the team is good.  Fan support for the Panthers has been incredible when the team has even remotely reciprocated. The idea that Charlotte doesn't support the Panthers is utter BS. People in Raleigh have the biggest little brother syndrome of all time... Nobody outside of the Triangle cares about any of your "vaunted" sports team outside of Duke-UNC in basketball on a national scale. Sure, the Canes are great. But nationally, the WWE dwarfs the NHL in ratings. More people care about Cody Rhodes than Sebastian Aho... or anyone else in the NHL for that matter... I doubt less than 5% of anyone in this state outside of Raleigh even knows who that is... that's a knock on Aho who is a great player, it's just the NHL barely makes a ripple in the overall hierarchy of American sports. It's not in the same universe as the NFL or NBA no matter how badly you want to tell yourself otherwise. Raleigh is not a big-time sports city, no matter how much you want to scream into the abyss about it. Neither is Charlotte. But no one here is making such a nonsense argument... LOL it's good to be young and to be ignorant enough to be confidently wrong... WTF are you even on this board though since Charlotte is so beneath you? There is an actual discussion board on this very site for Raleigh sports since they are so superior...  Maybe it's bc I'm watching Idiocracy with my son, but your timing is perfect, my man... The dumbest among us have become the most confidence in their ignorance... God Bless America!!
