Adrian Peterson is NOT better than Deangelo or J-Stew

He may have more natural talent than both of them, but he is not better! Both Panthers backs run harder and have to split carries between two of the best backs in the league. I'm tired of the media riding his jock.

By the way: My first thread ever.

williams was the best playing RB in 08 no doubt. And peterson has a severe problem with fumbles that he really needs to get control of. But AP is better than both, he's more talented and produces more. I bet williams or stewart could put up his numbers but we won't know that unless they split up.

Don't you think they fact that stewart and williams run so hard might have to do with the fact that they split carries? You talk about splitting carries like it's a disadvantage. Yeah it lowers their numbers but they are also much fresher. Peterson gets around 75% of the carries and deserves credit for that.

Good players become media darlings, happens all the time. I don't know why your so upset. John Gruden has a mancrush on D-will, he never shuts up about him. It's what happens when you play well.

haha John Gruden was a coach in the NFC south and the Panthers running game blew up Tampa on Monday night football last year, its not surprising that he likes D-will. Dont try to act like Adrian Peterson gets so much more credit than he deserves.

Credit for what? the fact that he gets more carries and doesn't produce on the same level as them?

The only RB that is truly on a different level above DWill/Gore/MJD/etc is Chris Johnson.

The way I see it, it's like:

1) Chris Johnson

2a) DWill

2b)AD

2c)MJD

2d etc etc etc etc

I would personally rather have DWill and J-Stewart as a tandem than any other back in the league.

He is hitting his holes too hard...No patience in his runs..

this year he is reminding me of exactly why Cedric Benson flopped in Chicago. When in Chicago, there was no one in the league that hit and attacked a defense as hard as Benson did evey snap....he would hit defenses hard and violently......but he had no patience for letting blocks develop or vision....and did relatively nothing.

This is kind of a moot argument anyway... you can compare them all you want and everyone has an opinion, but the way I look at it is look at the number of high quality backs in the NFL right now. Excellent football going on. There used to be only a few stars, now there are 7 or 8 guys that you can throw in this discussion of "best RB playing."

    • Great point.    I would lke to add that there is another QB on the roster who was terrible over the middle--Kenny Pickett.
    • I don't think this is the year for Carolina, unfortunately.  I think they will have to make a decision on the QB position-all we know is that Bryce has year 5, but a long term deal has not been signed--yet--and they would be smart to take a "wait and see" approach.  I have not kept up, and I see a path to upside for Bryce, but I do not think we have aggressively pursued a QB when our QB was mediocre to worse than mediocre.  yes, his numbers are improving--but he has adapted by eliminating what he does poorly and not improving on what he does poorly.  Just my take and I have no data to support this view.   Basically, we go as Bryce goes, so the approach is not to bring in a QB to have him compete until we find one, but it is to make Bryce as good as he can be--is that good enough? Season ticket holders buy the hope of winning rings, not winning 8 games. Last year, Bryce had a resurgence.  Take away TMac and Rico Dowdle.  How good was he?  I still have hope.  Not a hater of plan A, but a hater because we have no plan B.
    • Yeah man, I've been here for a very very long time. Couldn't even begin to tell you what year. Maybe 2004 or 5? I've never really been super active, just enjoy reading everyone's opinions and discussions. I'll chime in from time to time. I have had a few different accounts over the years. It's always been a fun place for me to check in on my favorite team. Hopefully we can keep the place running for a long while still. I also would like to recommend bringing back the Lovely Ladies page!
