Peppers: “Anywhere is a potential landing spot.”

Pep is and will continue to be a beast on the field for many more years. Hopefully, it's with us. I want him to retire a Panther, but I wont be mad if he leaves. We need him to stay in Carolina. Hopefully, the FO will lock him up long-term.

I cant be upset with what he's saying though. I wasnt upset last year. He's honored his contract and can go where he pleases.

I would think we are trying to sign him at this point to a 3 or 4 year deal. I imagine we would franchise him if he doesn't sign and he knows it. Giving him the tag is not a bad move given it costs 20 million with no cap consequence while signing him long term might cost 30 million and if 2011 is a lockout, we will spend more money and not gotten anything more out of it. At the end of next year he will be 31 and we can likely sign him cheaper since every year he ages, his value goes down not up. I doubt he plays for anyone else as he is still a hugely disruptive force and makes the rest of the line much better.

I have grown tired of Peppers. He's practicing with a Panthers helmet on and he's already disrespecting the franchise by saying things like, "I'm just trying to get on a team right now". You're on a team, douche. It's called the Carolina Panthers.

This just shows you that nothing has changed with Peppers from last offseason to this one. He's just playing it smarter this year. He still wants as much money as humanly possible and it doesn't matter where it comes from.

I just want him gone. Screw the franchise tag. Just let him go somewhere else and be where he wants to be.

I tried to tell everyone to read between the lines when he said that the issues of last year weren't an issue at this time.

Peppers hasn't been convinced to stay here because he likes Meeks' defense, as most here have thought. He's just biting his tongue so we don't keep him another year. Last year's potential trade talk really hurt any chance he had of going elsewhere, and he knows it.

Whether he likes Meeks or not, he would be smart not to say so in public when he's trying to get a new contract. IMO, he's just getting smarter about playing the game, and this statement has nothing to do with Meeks or the Panthers.

This may be the 1st time I've ever seen anything written about Pep that included the words "smart" and "smarter".

I think we're making the same point.

When the season ended and Peppers said the conditions that made him want to leave no longer existed "at this time," however, there were many posters here who took that as an indication that Peppers was now happy in Meeks defense and might sign a long-term contract.

Anyone can see he is just getting smarter and keeping his mouth shut to get the best possible deal. I sincerely doubt that's with us, if it's up to him.

The Panthers surived before Julius Peppers.

They will survive, and possibly thrive, without him.

A team, is greater than one man, unless that man is Peyton Manning. Manning, makes average players, and sometimes average coaches, look great, consistently, year in, and year out.

DEs to me don't make the same impact is a great QB.

On that logic, which others may disagree with, while it would be great if Peppers stays, if he doesn't, the NFL world, and the Panthers world continues.

What is funny to me is....... you NEVER, never...... hear a word out of this SOB, till it's time to talk about money/contract.

Some may think that is a good thing, but it is also starting to be a very telling thing about him.

Fvck Pep.

big deal, it's well known that he's shy. He's not a leader or very socialable, rhys llyod is more public than he is. From what I've heard he doesn't even like taking pictures with people When it's time for buisness it's time for talking. Beason held out for and Moose left for money, it's not because their greedy it's just buisness.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
