What sucks is we have to keep in mind who we are and the stigma we now have.  we are going to have to overpay BIGTIME to get some quality FA's.  Imagine you're Tee Higgins, or Mike Evans and you could sign a contract with even someone like the Giants, but for the same pay or maybe slightly more, you could come to Carolina where we'll be on our 3rd coach (technically 4th since Wilks was better than either of the 2 morons before or after him) in 3 years, a toxic work environment due to the dildo of an owner, and a second year quarterback who may or may not be any good but damn sure has been completely shellshocked by our incompetence...Why on earth would anyone CHOOSE to be part of this situation.

Whatever dude..

Chioce has been made and you have to surround the kid with something and see what you have..

You can’t keep putting him out with some bs and hoping he makes chicken salad out of it..

You made the investment now you have to figure out ways to make it work..

Sitting on your ass bitching about it isn’ a option.. Cutting ties after 1 year isn’t a option..

The bench isn’t cutting ties, right away.

If they do not have a fair competition at QB lord help them. Get someone in there that can run an NFL offense.

Most players largely go where the money makes the most sense.

The "Makes Sense" part is where SO MANY people get lost.  I see every offseason "We CoUlD hAvE sIgNeD (insert player name here) fOr (Insert what another team paid)" and its always stupid.  We can offer the same contracts and get turned down for multitudes of reasons.  During even our good years, we still had a hard time attracting prime free agents because they look at the fact that Marketing contracts they can sign are better in the bigger markets.  NOW add that part to our cluster of a situation, and unless we're literally backing a brinks truck to their doorstep, Most of the top flight guys ARENT gonna come here.

When you’ve traded up and drafted a player 1 overall.. You’ve made your choice for atleast 3 seasons.. So for those 3 seasons you have to either invest in your original investment or nothing.. There is no other option..

First we need better talent evaluators, don’t trust the current gm to pick the right WRs to overpay in fa, and can’t trust him to draft one either

That’s why you over pay for proven talent… We already no Mike Evan’s is a number 1 you don’t need to evaluate that..

Throw in also that the kind of players you have to overpay for can likely also get overpaid by another team, one that might have a better situation...

I agree so you get in bidding war and Hope you have a better offer…  At this point you got to try… Because you can’t march this kid out there doing nothing hoping he can carry poor talent and we don’t have the draft capital to get a difference maker for atleast a year..

You can make the money better, but the situation is what it is.

You have to sell free agents on the idea that they'll be the difference maker.

    • No you dont.  He had all those records for years before his final season. Whether career or season he had them all years before his final season in which he played 6 games.
    • Williams covered for Moore by saying they were on the wrong page about Moores specific route. Williams could have easily covered for him by saying he messed up. Suggesting only 1 route was ever intended to be a viable target is absurd.
    • I am going to agree with Linville this time--I think we need to get a veteran edge (We have Jones II, Scourton, and Princely--2 developmental guys and a decent veteran).  We don't really think of Jones because he had a hamstring injury weeks 3 and 4 and a back that required surgery Week 6-17.  He still managed 10 pressures, and he will be 28.  Princely Umanmielen only played in approximately 18-20% of the snaps and he struggled at times.  Basically, he was a situational pass rusher.  He got 1.5 sacks and 10 pressures.  He should improve, but for now, he is what he is.  Scourton gives us hope.  For a rookie (and thanks to Jones II's injuries, he was given more PT), he had 8 sacks--and held the edge.  He played at a first-round draft pick level.  He has the potential to become "that guy" in 2026. We lose Wonnum, who played nearly 700 snaps and amassed 3 whole sacks.  For a person raised a Gamecock, I would not be upset if we purged our roster of all South Carolina alumni.   However, I see it this way:  Wonnum was decent holding the edge, something Patrick Jones II and Scourton have demonstrated at a high level.  He is a liability, if you ask me.    Jones had 7 sacks one season in Minnesota and is known for his inside rushing ability--not what you would call a speed rusher.  I think Princely was a bit disappointing, but he was a bit raw.  Out of college, they described him as being a bit predictable.  I see no reason he will not improve in 2026 and become a situational pass rusher.   Basically, with Scourton and Princely expected to continue to develop and Jones II returning from injury, I think we need another veteran (if we can get a good one) to give us balance and depth.  A third developmental player is not ideal.   Draft:  OT, LB, WR, OL depth, S. Free Agency:  Edge, possibly a WR;  re-sign Mays, Cuhran, BC (??), and Nijman.  Let walk:  Wonnum, Scott, Dowdle.  I see about $20m per year after signing the OL depth.  Spend it on a veteran edge.   Players like Reddick (Tampa), Bosa (Buffalo), Khalil Mack (LAC) could be available on a one or two year deal in the $15m range.  We could splurge here, but I think a veteran situational pass rusher (depending on Jones II's back) is all we need while our 2 young guns develop.
