As traditional, the champ gets the first game of the season. At home raising the banner, in front of national tv. This year, it will the the aints, if history tells us right, they will play a conference opponent. So this is where they stand, for the first game they can have Atlanta, Carolina, Tampa, Minnesota, Seattle and St Louis. I think our chances are good given if we do something drastic like trade for a qb that we could be in line for the first game of the season next year.

If favre returns it will be against the vikings

I think they usually play a playoff contender from the prior year, and we know Warner won't be back - so if Farve is back this is probably a good guess.

Could also see them playing the Cowboys - since the SB is in Dallas next year and Cowboys = instant ratings boost.

If anything, I doubt they would match them up against a previous years non-playoff contending division rival, too much of a chance for a big upset on a night that's supposed to be all about celebrating the reigning champ.

100% Minnesota if Favre is playing next year.

The redskins were in the playoffs the year before when they played the Giants. No way the panthers get this game over teams like the steelers and Vikings.
