Well, they have also posted a list of GM Candidates:

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers have begun the process of finding their next general manager by requesting permission to interview eight candidates so far.

On Monday, the team requested permission to interview the following:

— Giants assistant GM Brandon Brown
— Buccaneers assistant GM Mike Greenberg
— Chiefs vice president of football operations Brandt Tilis.
— Eagles assistant GM Alec Halaby
— Saints assistant GM Khai Harley
— Ravens vice president of football administration Nick Matteo
— Colts assistant GM Ed Dodds
— Raiders interim GM Champ Kelly

I am sure they will ask for more permissions for coach and GM and who knows who will actually interview but the list is compiled quickly.  Maybe the recently hired group worked quickly or do you think these are the names Tepper came up with himself?

Ed Dodds is the best GM Candidate so far and I don't think it's that close. Champ Kelly is probably 2nd and Halaby 3rd.

Harley is literally only the contract guy, Brown is very very new in his career with a Giants team that is struggling outside of Daboll, Tilis is meh, Matteo and Greenberg just seem like Scott Fitterer clones when you read their background.

Dodds and Kelly also have experience dealing with over involved owners (Irsay & Davis)

Then how are we requesting interviews with Lions OC Ben Johnson, who are entering the playoffs?

The playoff thing only applies after the 1st interview. They can do preliminary ones now but they have to adhere to the hiring process for anything more and certainly cannot hire someone in the playoffs until after they lose their playoff or win the SB.

Not feeling great about Tepper requesting interviews with GM's and HC's. Just feels like he's gonna hodge podge together another random duo. A GM that will do whatever he wants along with whatever HC he can throw enough money at to come here for a pay day. I feel like he should stick to hiring a VP/GM that isn't gonna be his little bitch and then let them work from there

HC is gonna take longer to hire than GM because of the hiring rules in place.  He'll have a GM in time to will wittle the list down for 2nd interviews and go from there.

Do internal interviews typically get announced or leaked later? Curious if they will entertain Evero. Don't seem like he is getting much attention anywhere else.

I would think that internal interviews would be announced when interviews take place.  These lists they are releasing are request to other teams.  No need to request to interview internally

    • It probably would be. Given that most 6th and 7th rounders aren't NFL game day material except on the Panthers, the pick might improve us slightly with a drafted player, but I'd like to see us actually be able to open up the field. I do think some of our offensive problem stem from defenses aren't afraid of Bryce's arm. They cover a short field and that makes life a lot easier for them.  If it doesn't work though, unless we get rid of the scouting department and whatever drafting algorithm Dave is making us use, it won't really matter anyway.
    • I think the Baker/Darnold thing has been overblown. QBs that struggle with the team that drafts them and go on to find success elsewhere often do end up going to multiple new teams before they figure it out and/or find the right situation. It just so happened that we traded for both guys in back-to-back years and neither player had quite figured it out yet. Baker, I think, needed more time and a better supporting cast. Darnold, I think, benefitted from a year on the bench in San Francisco a ton. I don't really have any ill will towards either of them. I think they both came here with the best intentions after coming from difficult circumstances; unfortunately the Panthers were - and still are, it seems - also in the process of figuring things out.
    • At this point this is all I want from this team. I'm done hoping for wins. I just want to see a competitive team for 4 quarters. Come out of the gate hard and don't give up no matter the score.
