It was reported by nfl.com. I'm not sure how much more reliable you can get. I mean, do you honestly think the Panthers or Patriots were going to officially confirm that a trade had fallen through? Please people, don't feign ignorance.

NFL.com has the same exact format as ESPN.com, meaning, they both have so called "insiders." Doesn't mean that any of it was true.

Then why are we even here? Why even turn on ESPN or read a single Panthers article if you think that every single reporter is out to lie about the Panthers?

Of course the report could have been faulty. But can we please be honest and admit that it probably wasn't? Reporters have better stuff to do than to just make poo up, especially nfl.com writers.

We couldnt afford tgo let Peppers go last year. The Patriots could have offered 2 first rounders last year and we wouldnt have taken that.

could have just easily afforded to let him go last year as this year. No that big of a difference......

Probably because that makes no sense. Peppers wanted to leave Charlotte and the Patriots were on his little "approved" list of teams to be traded to.

Uh, it makes perfect sense if the pats tried to lowball a 3 year deal with him... they wouldn't have stayed with the 1 year franchise tender.

You're right. It was way more important to pay Peppers more than LeBron James and Peyton Manning make and go 8-8 in the process and then to release him for nothing shortly thereafter than to have taken those two mythical first-round picks.

The Patriots were offering a second-round pick for him last offseason. We passed because we wanted more. Now he leaves for nothing.

The Rams were offering a second-round pick for Jenkins back after the '06 season. We passed because we wanted more. We then had to settle for a 3rd and a 5th.

When?

Until the Pep signed his tender the Panthers could not discuss a trade with another team... his agent could but the Panthers could not.

So that pretty much debunks that theory right there.

Gotta have a s player signed b4 u can trade em.

It is when you only had Brayton and Johnson as legit DE's. Brown wasnt on the team at the time and Johnson wasnt a starter. This year Brown and Johnson can start along with Brayton. Lat year we needed Peppers until our other DE's could preform.

That's true. I never heard of anything hinting at that, but I guess you never know.

Of course, it apparently isn't about the money for Peppers since he turned down the chance to become the highest-paid defensive player in the league just so he could finally be free of this franchise.

So what? All that meant was that Carey had to act as a mediator between the two. Happens all the time.
