The emphasis on DT

Think Hurney brings up a great point.DT was a need before Peppers but now its even bigger. How will lewis do with out Peppers?..Were going to need more push inside next year to make up for not having a guy like Peppers and to take pressure off our DE.

“I don’t think you ever replace Julius with one player,” Hurney said. “But I think you try to make the group as strong as you can. I think that you try to get a very strong wave in your defensive line. Maybe if you strengthen your defensive tackle position, maybe you get more push inside, maybe that helps your ends if you have fresh guys, if you have enough of a wave, you try to do that.

Losing Peppers puts more pressure on the DTs and somewhat exposes the LBs. Regardless of his "heart" teams had to scheme for a dynamic playmaker that was very versatile. At best it takes a wrinkle away from our defense. At worst it makes us less than average if we dont upgrade before the season starts.

Very true..everybody will have to pick it up on the line. And it could mean more blitzing at times.

Beason and Davis were proven effective as blitzers, albeit not used too often. Perhaps an (and this is an old, old conversation) upgrade from Diggs is somewhere on the list of priorities now?

I could see us taking a OLB..in the draft.I still would like to see connor at OLB some more.

We'll upgrade our d-line via the draft and FA. We have no choice but to do so, or have a losing season. Our Tampa-2 won't work without a good and consistant pass rush. Expect a big name DE to be bought in FA, and a high round draft pick to be used on a pass rushing defensive lineman.

Not a lot of big names out there. But I would like a guy like corey williams from the brown.

Connor is barely athletic enough to a be a MLB in the 4-3, no way would he work on the outside. He's very smart so he's not out of position much but OLB would be too much to ask. He'lll be a back up and package guy as long as he's here.

When he got the start when diggs was out I think he held his own.

Man haven't heard that name since the 1st of the season. Is he a FA? I wanted us to trade for him bad when it was said that Hurney was scouting the Browns. I think in the tampa 2/4-3 he would be back to his old productive self.

No he is not a FA.But my thinking is that with his contract and a new FO staff will clean house and try to move him.

    • He's not wrong though. You talk like a politician on here. Leaving yourself just enough wiggle room to say you never fully counted Bryce out if you need to....But we can all see it. Just say you think he is a bust outright and you will have to type a lot less. Obfuscating your opinion behind QB3 competitions etc....
    • Most EVs are in the 90+ e-MPG meaning some measurement house somewhere compares the EV to a similar ICE model and works out how much is costs to charge (on average) versus fill up as a point of comparison. Talking long term, in the hundreds of thousands of miles?  No clue.  Some early signs are that EV batteries maintain 80% charge over 400k miles.  So there's that.   The challenge and charm of an ICE vehicle is being able to park it under a tree, get your jack stands out and tinker with your engine.  There's just not that same level of complexity in an EV.  I saw someone estimate there are 200 or so moving parts in an EV, and 2000 in an ICE vehicle.  I'm not a part counter so I can't really speak to that. I think that the EV is more the future than any type of combustion engine.  Those will still be around in specific purposes, but for most people - an EV will be the superior option in terms of efficiency.  I say that as someone who loves stupid horsepower numbers out of turbo 4 bangers and inline 6s...  I am one of those tinkers when I can be. A bigger issue for EVs is going to be the ownership versus lease.  Right now, there are INSANE leases on EVs, which is great, but what do you have at the end of that lease?  Nada, maybe some equity if you're lucky.  Where as I'm almost done paying for my car, and plan to keep it until the wheels fall off (or my son wrecks it when he starts to drive).  Will EV makers do the smartphone thing and build in planned obsolesce?  Stop updating software?  I love the tech in EVs, and I think getting more cars and trucks off the road is a good thing.  But I am still just a little concerned.  Capitalism has gotten far too extractive.
