Matt Moore named the starter

Mr. Scot

This is a good thing. He knows going in the job is his to lose, you see how he handles it, if his work habits improve, if he becomes good leadership material for the team.

If not, we look elsewhere next season (provided there is a next season) and he's free to move on.

Means we're likely only in the market for a backup in free agency or the draft.

I think we pull in a backup vet (re-sign McCown maybe) but it wouldn't surprise me if we blow an early pick (relatively, considering where we pick) on a QB with promise. Moore is only contracted for one season and he could still bomb once he's the man.

Good job. Best of luck #3.

But there is no way in hell we should go into camp with three QBs with less than a year of starting experience combined. We need an over-30 veteran presence in the worst way. If we go into camp with Matt Moore being the veteran by default, we will not only fail as a team, but probably shatter Matt's confidence. That's a burden he shouldn't have on him his first year as a starter.

    • I member him staying after practices with only to see he was wearing heavy weight vest, one of his trademarks. He also put in 10 years, right? People forget he was the ST stud that called the snap and made sure everyone lined up right. He was one of the "glue" guys that bought his "lunch pail" to work.... He was a willing solider, all teams need a couple of them. He blocked for sooo many panthers RBs- Davis, lane, Williams, foster, goings and when there was huge injuries he took over the starter duties and had a couple 100 yard games. If you followed hoover, he took the perfect RB path cause he was just a slow heavy one himself....
    • Walker likely depends on a couple of things. What exactly did Dan promise him, to start with.  How much other interest he actually had for a starter job at high pay is another question. It isn’t outside the realm of possibility that he could stay on as a swing tackle waiting to take Moton’s spot when it opens.    I can’t get myself to consider Icky as a viable anything until we see him back on the field.     Hunt seems to be a team player and good guy but I don’t think he is worth what he is being paid. I have him tentatively earmarked for cap causality in the near future.
    • Definitely epic tv..... A man who wont cheat for a poke dont want one bad enough.
