Will Jarrett make the cut?

With all these people being cut, I was honestly surprised that I didn't see his name mentioned.

Do you think he'll be kept around because of our lack of WR depth and the fact he's dirt cheap(and maybe the final game last year had some impact on it..) ?

had it not been for smith getting hurt jarrett probably might have been cut although he is only under contract for one more year and the $$ left on it isn't much.

that last game was huge for him and it gave him a chance to really compete next year. it gave him reason for some confidence in himself and, more importantly, reason for the team, the future QB, and the coaching staff to have some confidence in him.

we'll see him stepping up a whole lot more this year. hopefully he takes time to work in the offseason with matt and the other receivers. the new playbook should have some more work for him. he has a lot of strengths and ways that he can be used. not much in YAC but making the big catch will be something really useful. he has some nice hands and size and he is really tough in catching and keeping the ball.

i'm anxious to see what he can do. i wouldn't have said that before that last saints game but i believe it now. he can be good for us.

I was going to post something similar to this..

Anyways, I know people are not high on Jarrett but I honestly think he will play a lot better with Moore then he would've with Jake. I think Moore is better at spreading the ball round so I think this is Jarrett's year to shine.

exactly, if Jake had been a better QB Jarrett could have lready been a star but now in the last year of his contract he will finally get to showcase his talent and with our luck not want to play for us anymore, I know I wouldnt want to if a team with a lack of depth at WR actually deactivated me:icon_bs:

We'll keep him because he's on his last year of the rookie contract, but nabbing your first TD (barely) against Saints back-ups isn't worth a damn. But if we don't bring in a solid FA WR, and our draft pick doesn't grasp the game right away...he'll be the #2. That scares me.

why does it scare you??? He great hands and catches anything and everything coming his way regardless of the coverage. Had he gotten more PT he would have a poo load of TD's if you base his production off of TD's

Jarrett was impressive playing behind Kenny Moore, hauling in a one-handed grab down the sideline and beating Pierson Prioleau over the middle on his 30-yard score. He still does not get enough separation consistently to be strongly considered for a starting job in 2010.

That's why it scares us.

neither does Moose or even Keyshawn Johnson, but they get open right??? even if he doesnt have 3 steps on a db if he catches it thats all that matters right??? wouldn't that make him better if he can catch it with a db draped all over him??? our team seems to want a big WR oppisite of Smith and I cant say I agree with it, but it works and with Moore spreading the ball around mark my words, if we keep him, he will be a star:coolgleamA:

Jarret is only 23 and he is going into his 4th year and i like the fact that he has a lot of experence and is still younger then some rookies. if the panthers give him a chance i think he will be really good and can be a stating WR. he is a big WR and has good hands and i hope the panthers give him a year to prove himself

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
