Kasay will retire...

during or around training camp....he will lose the battle to someone who can do both K's duties. Too much hoopla will be made if he is shown the door now.

Was thinking the same thing. I am expecting us to draft someone next month who can do both.

i vote matt prater from denver. 24 years old. made less than $500k last year. RFA not tendered.

on FGs went 29-34 last year and 2-3 from 50+ yards. didn't miss any of the 32 XPs he kicked.

meanwhile kasay was 22-27 on FGs with 1-4 from 50+ and one missed XP out of 32.

on KOs avg. 68.4 yards per kick (lloyd was 66.7), 28 TBs (lloyd had 21)

kasay is supposed to get $1.75mil this year and $2mil the next 2 years.

who is the better deal?

Yep, they will not cut the last remaining original Panther. He will be given the opportunity to bow out gracefully.
i believe that. i just wonder if he would actually do that.

if the decision were up to kasay, would he do it? would he force their hand or would they let him finish out his contract if he wanted?

This team has always been fortunate to never have to worry about the kicking game like virtually every other team has had. To those running Kasay out for having an average NFL kicker season: You better hope that you can find someone just as good to replace him. Look at how many clutch field goals were missed in the playoffs and in the regular season and ask yourself if Kasay would have missed a lot of those kicks that were basically chip shots. He doesn't. He has something like 95% accuracy on game-winning clutch tries in his career.

What I guess I'm trying to say is that I find it a little absurd that so many people have been wanting Kasay ran out of town lately when kicker is only about sixth or seventh on our list of positions that could use an upgrade.

it is all part of the cut frenzy!!! any one wh has a slight imperfection needs to be cut for a younger, cheaper player, albeit not necessarily better player. didnt you get the memo?

Please stop with the posts. You have added absolutely nothing but moaning and bitching to any thread.

Kasay is no longer able to perform kick-off duties....fact.

We have to carry another player to compensate for that...fact.

The combination of the two salaries is extremely high....fact.

You bitching and moaning....non-fact.

Kasay is still solid at kicking FG's. No one is disputing that. However, you cannot carry three kickers effectively with the roster limitations.

If our punter can sufficiently perform kick-offs, then you keep kasay for now.

If not, you have to look for another alternative that improves the team.

You guys are worse than Fox....you want to keep aging and liked players who can be replaced by younger and better talent.

    • After watching Dan for 3 yrs now, I think I understand his plan. It’s a simple plan that should work for the long run.     I saw some of this last yr. Dan wants a vet and a young player at each position. I really think we go OT if one they like there. Moton is aging, Icky will not be back until 27, if ever. We need to get ahead of the tackle problem
    • You are just stressing too much about these particular positions. You want to upgrade from Bryce and I understand that but you aren’t going to really get that without getting into a bidding war for a QB2 potential QB1 like Willis. You could possibly trade for Mills or the backup for Chicago but they are still gambles and their teams will won’t decent picks.  Again the Eagles thought KP was a capable enough backup to trade for him once their backup was hurt and won a Super Bowl with him as QB2. The point is most teams aren’t rolling with some stud QB2/3 that is going to push even a bottom tier starter. They are better off the building their roster in other areas. The Rams are rolling with Bennett right now as QB2 for example.  The goal is winning absolutely. We overachieved last year even with stumbling into the playoffs. Another year and this staff needs to take the next step in building a team. Will Grier has little to no impact on that….
    • Three straight first round WRs is straight up Matt Millen poo. Considering the draft capital we have tied up on Bryce after that trade we would basically have spent damn near all of our draft capital in recent years on QB and WR just to put one of the most anemic passing offenses in the league on the field. Clown show poo.
