Ok I have to vent...lately I have been seeing a lot of this but maybe it has always been this way. I am sorry but these overpaid drama queens who want even more money are nothing like a soldier.

I am not a soldier myself but I come from a military family and it just seems like disrespect to compare these soldiers who risk their life for pennies to players who entertain for millions. These entertainers have a serious job no doubt but not even close to a soldiers. Only one player has ever died in the NFL during a game, two if you include one that was saved by CPR, and is living a normal life.

Our soldiers are already not respected enough for what they do, let alone not paid enough. There is no reason to insult them by comparing them to NFL players.

NFL players are entertainers, soldier's are Heros. Big difference and I think people need to be more aware of the fact. I HATE it when players say they are going to war/battle with fellow 'soldiers' and it really just seems disrespectful because a stadium full of fans on a football field does not come close to comparing to the middle east or any other war zone. I know they don't truly mean it in that sense but it just gets to me.

Thats the mentality the players have when they play just read Beason's quotes from the other day. He talks about going to "War" with the other players. As a former Soldier I have no problem with it all just the way they view it. It put them in a certain mindset.

So the mentality of men wearing pads hitting each other for the sake of a game is the same as soldiers sent in the middle of no where being flamed by bullets dodging life and death is the same?

I think not.

But I respect your opinion as a soldier.

Also that video is exactly what I am talking about. LOL. It takes away meaning of being a real soldier, the motives are completeley different in meaning and depth.

I am sorry I guess I just don't see it. One is playing for a trophy, the other their life. Players can yap with their mouth all they want about how playing is like war and what not, but FACT is it isn't...players are not dying left and right over the field.

Not saying it is the same just helps the players took look at it that way. They know it isnt. It just a mindset.

Also for the record this has nothing to do with what Beason said. I was just talking football with some friends and the way the NFL seemed to be compared to the military in the conversation seemed really disrespectful that's all. I see it on the forums a lot too.

As a current soldier, I have no problems at all with a reference to "war." "War" has many faces. A man can wage "war" on his own self.

Mr Beason was simply making a metaphor. As I have found in my years as a soldier, many civilians and military family are much more sensitive about references to soldiers and war than the military member themselves.

Thank you for your concern for soldiers and the upmost respect you have displayed. We certainly appreciate you.

there are legit comparisons to be made... anytime a group of men who train together, eat together, travel together, and fight together are put into high stress situations with high emotions for lengthy periods of time develop a sort of brotherhood.

obviously there's no bullets flying (unless matt moore is throwing a pass ;) ) or bombs falling, but to say NO comparison can be made is foolish.

      Of course, everyone has film. That is probably fresh in their mind though. Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.

      I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).

      It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
