The man that should be our top target in FA

Again my main point in starting this thread was in looking at FA and How can the Panthers best improve this pathetic offense.  We all were hoping for a big name WR, sadly that’s not happening.  But a guy like Saquon will be available and can carry an offense.  The Giants had a worse QB situation than us somehow and he still was able to have success and teams feared him.  I like Chuba but he’s not in the same stratosphere of talent that Saquon is.

Nobody would complain about the cap implications if CMC was still on the roster, and this brings us close to that talent level at the position again.  It will also be cheaper than CMC was. Let’s face it, if we don’t bring in talent via FA to take pressure of Bryce this year will be just as ugly as the last.  Hoping to just draft guys with the like 3 picks we have is laughable.

Most guys drafted in the second round and beyond are not ready immediately.  Look at Mingo..

I would say 3rd and beyond.

As to your point, why in the world would Saquon want to come here? I imagine that he's going to go to a place where he can help a real contender get over the hump, not come here and help us struggle to be barely competitive. It's going to be his choice. He's already been linked to the Chargers.

Saquon's brain:

Chargers vs Panthers

San Diego vs Charlotte

Harbaugh vs Canales

Herbert vs Young

Is it really a choice? Really?

It doesn't and its stupid.

If you want to root for names go play fantasy football or something.

Signing high priced FAs makes no sense at all in our timeline, trading anything outside of players also makes no sense.

Yes the plan is to draft and develop that is how the best teams do it, not by signing a bunch of guys with well known names to stupid contracts.

I respect your vision, but I strongly disagree. Relying on the draft to fix your problems is just not a safe way to view team building. You need to hit on the draft and FA's imo.

CMC was not trying to play unless he was 100% healthy. Dude quit on us and I won't forget that. Wish him well, but he wasn't all in his time here.

The player we should have kept was Moore. Dude was all in, never complained about QB play. I miss that guy.

Serious delusion here. CMC never quit, period. That was typical Marty/Rhule CYA keeping him on IR when we were out of it. CMC was surprised by the trade and I’ve posted it in here before. Heck CMC signed a long term extension with us. This isn’t like the current Burns situation. CMC and Moore both signed up to be long term Panthers.

He’s right and the bolded is just completely wrong. The draft is the core of team building, period. 49ers lost to the Chiefs. Go look at their rosters, their cores are absolutely reliant on the draft. There may be a couple key FAs or trades, but the core was drafted (including UDFAs).

    • Trust me, the ticket investment in the Canes has already paid for itself with the amount of fun we have and the experiences we've enjoyed with the organization. From my recognition as a BCBS Hero of the Game during the 2019 playoffs, riding the zambonis, taking our dogs on the ice during the Christmas holiday photo op in 2022, and the fact the team wins. Compare that to having Panther PSLs for 17 years, which cost a helluva lot more than Canes tickets and there's little doubt as to which is the better bang for your buck.
    • Looking back Matt Moore and Kyle Allen are 2 QBS that showed way more than B Young I still believe given the right opportunity both of them could have been middle of the pack or above average nfl starting qbs. The matt moore vs brett favre game still a great memory.
    • I can accept ticket price increases when that money is being spent to make the team and facilities better, unlike what Tepper has done in Charlotte.  Dundon has a ton of respect from me. Also, you said a mouthful with that last sentence....Donny and the Committee have a lot of work to do.  Priorities IMHO is getting Guentzel and Skjei re-signed.  I love Pesce, but Skjei doesn't get hurt as much and Pesce doesn't have the offensive upside.  Guentzel is a no brainer.  I also strongly believe we should keep Necas, he is too fast, skilled, and dangerous to just let go.  He has had some "WTF" moments but he is relatively still young.  One other hail mary I'd like to throw out there is getting KK off the books for something of some value, but it's most likely a pipe dream.
