I’d take shots on Fields, Zach Wilson, Drew Lock and even Trey Lance if they wanted to do the whole bridge thing

All these guys have legit NFL arms. The more this plays out I’m kinda coming around to the idea of a bridge QB for a bit and seeing what Canales can do

100% agree.  Saddle Canales with a rookie QB nest season--rinse and repeat of the past couple of years.  If Canales can get us to around .500 with a JAG veteran next season and show improvement with Dalton this season, then we can move forward with a rookie in '26 knowing he's our coach for the foreseeable future.

This QB's mindset--and it's backed up. At the moment, we can trade down and get him...and probably don't have to worry about him saying he won't play in Carolina.

"Attack! Attack from the jump!"

"Every f'n snap is all about us!"

"Let's go attack these mfers!"

No way we take another Bama QB...

I agree. I know Saban is gone but no way Tepper wants to hear a peep about another Bama QB

While I understand that reflex...imagine Chicago not taking another Ohio State QB after Fields...and Fields at least looked the part.

Half the people who didn't want Stroud only discounted him because he went to Ohio State. Everyone with that view now looks foolish.

Yeah I get all that, I’m the first to say scout the player not the helmet but this is David Tepper we’re talking about

The most important thing to me is to have a true bridge QB and don’t start a rookie. Pats are doing it the right way this year. Packers have done it that way for years etc. That also allows you to draft a high upside QB and develop him. And it would work really well with Candles as a HC. Allen from Penn State would definitely fit the bill for this.

I agree.

I don’t even care if it’s someone we take 1st overall, let him sit a year

I don’t think there was any amount of “developing” that was going to do anything differently for Bryce though. His arm was never getting better. He was never getting bigger.

Allar has all the tools. I haven’t been a fan but I’d definitely get behind the pick knowing he has the tools and would be given a chance to sit and develop with Canales

I know playing in Kiffin’s offense is going to raise a lot of questions but Dart could end up being an intriguing option in 2nd

System QB.  I've looked at some of his tape and he's got a noodle arm.  Be proud of me that I'm down on the NCAA leader in passing.

    • Rico is 0%. I think we would really like to have Mays back but we have a value in mind and aren't willing to overspend. I think someone probably will so I think the odds are pretty low but not zero.
    • Damn I liked A'Shawn too. This is basically a heads up we're planning on cutting you move.  Robinson wasn't the best but I loved his attitude and effort on the field. He held that entire dline together when Brown went down iirc..granted we finished that season as the worst rushing defense in modern NFL history.  If Wharton would have performed up to atleast half of his salary last season, I'd feel a little better about it. We do need that cap space though.
    • 13. Carolina is coming. The Panthers are well thought of around the league. Their "process" seems sound. I think their off-season will be very interesting to keep an eye on. They made the playoffs, but they're not yet knocking on the door. (Offense was 26th in EPA/play.) I think it's imperative they don't overestimate where they are in their build. They can't throw a ton of money around in FA to "make a run now". They need to be intentional about building a solid foundation. (IMO) And from what I know about the team... I think they will be. Sidenote: I have my eye on offense there, not defense. They HAVE to leave next season with a strong opinion on Bryce Young. They need to put pieces around him to do that. Can't be left wondering what he would have looked like with "better OL play" or "more pass catchers". They have to know. (That part is purely my opinion. No one told me that.) https://x.com/lindsay_rhodes/status/2027212533417869499?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA
