Well what I heard during the combine was very different. It was said that the top 4 was in the 90's with Youngs being the highest. That's why I didn't understand the butthurt from everyone. All 4 had similar measurables with Young being the exception in the height and weight category. That's why Young and Stroud went 1 and 2. Richardson didn't have the playing experience so I can see why he went as qb 3. Levis was just weird in too many ways to take that high. That's how I remember the combine broadcast talk. I was stuck at home so I watched it all and had to listen to all the talk from the knowitalls.

It's why they were even asking Stroud about his score in that sports illustrated article in which he responded "I'm a football players not a test taker" which I kind of liked.  There were rumors stirring around CJ might drop to the Raiders but the NFL GMs weren't that dumb.

Him sucking sure would take the sting out of us gifting him to Chicago

Agreed but I’m not going to root against him or anything. Just don’t care that much and I’ve moved on from our disastrous 2023

Goes to show you it's not the end all be all some want to make it out to be. That came out after the combine didn't it?

It could have.  I don't remember the exact timing but it was close to the draft.  Regardless yeah it kind of made the S2 seem irrelevant as shown by the lack of attention it received this year.

I mean, if your "cheat code" test labels one guy basically a sure thing and he looks like trash and labels another guy bottom of the barrel and he has the best rookie seasons ever... oh wee mayne. That's pretty much a kill shot.

Using the S2 score alone amounts to saying 1 measurable like the strongest arm is all you need to predict a sure thing is ridiculous. If that's all it took then what's the point of every other measurable? No, it's just another thing someone will use to complain about why they didn't get what they wanted.

Yeah there is no magical test that tells you how good a QB will be.  You have to look at tape, potential, character, and then they need to go to a good system where they can develop.  It seems to be the toughest position to project.

I wanted a good QB. Based on how Tepper raved about Bryce's "super processing" and his love for "analytics" it's logical to surmise that there's a good chance that he was a big believer in the S2 test. I want to say that maybe Joe Person even reported such. Fair Joe Person mockery aside, he certainly has a helluva better organizational sources than my non-existent ones.

It is. It is one the if not the most important thing. The coaches and qb pairing must be right or it's a wasted pick.

    • Completely agreed.  TBH, we have had so many great players that are in my favorite list, and I hate to narrow it down to one, but Cam is it.  Which is crazy, because you would think it would be more of the guys I grew up watching, but no.  Cam was the single most impactful player to ever out on a football uniform imo.  And like I said in an earlier post, I always felt a kinship with him in a lot of ways…  the way he was treated and judged for the off the field stuff in Florida and having to overcome all of that and fight show at back.  And although I am not a black man, I have always been welcomed by and accepted more by minorities, and thus, I know what it’s like to be judged by appearances rather than the content of your character and who you actually are.  I know what it’s like to be stereotyped and written off or mistreated for your mistakes.  I know what it’s like to be held to a different standard while your peers don’t have to meet that same standard.  So I always related to that.  And the way he came in and just electrified the whole franchise, man…  I still think about it often how much it sucks that because of how talented he was, our staff out so much on him and that ultimately cut his career short.  You’re right, there will never be another Cam…  I think Josh Allen is the closest thing we will see for a long time, but Allen is not the running threat Cam was.  Cam could run you over or around you.  That was THE absolute funnest time to watch our team ever.
    • It definitely needs more specificity than is baked in now.
    • The weirdest encounter I had with a pro athlete was waiting in line at security at Mile High Stadium when I used to get the company suite tickets almost every week because I was the only employee based in Colorado. There's a small checkpoint accessing the suites that virtually no one knows about that you can usually squirt right through. I was standing there and looked over my shoulder and there stands John fuging Elway waiting in line behind me.  This was during the The Golden Calf of Bristol season right before he became GM. I just said "They make YOU go through security?" He's like "Yeah, ain't that a bitch. I literally have a statue out front and I gotta go through security like everybody else." I've heard mixed things about him but he was super nice and down to earth with me that day.
