Burns playing like a bum all last season  tanked his trade value and contract. If he shows out and plays like an animal all season, we get at least a first and he might have gotten the money he wanted.

Instead, he showed the league he’s all about the business decision. Sounds like a GM killer to me. Morgan would have taken a Burger King Italian chicken sandwich (bring it back, BK) to get him gone.

This seems like a recurring theme around here.....Nobody wants to play for this poo franchise.

Im not sure Burns would be interested in really playing for any team, he doesnt really care abut being great, just getting the bag.

No because what was stated was true. Many rookie QBs have had a rough rookie year but also showed something. Bryce did not and it wasn't all the crap show around him, he was a substantial part of that crap show. His best game as the GB game and the other team looked like they had their heads up their butts more than the Panthers were good IMO.

Don't like it? I sympathize but no one has to play pretend if they don't want to. That wasn't Bryce bashing it was just truth that hurts. There is a big difference.

yeah i have said time & time again & it's a well known fact that Bryce Young almost led the league in uncatchacble passes his rookie season & that's no one's fault but his...just saying

I haven't been able to watch a hard knocks in years, but this one is actually pretty friggin great as we rarely get this kind of insight. Highly recommend. Unfortunately/Fortunately lots of Panthers content dripped throughout the episode including our 2003 Super Bowl run due to Giants GM starting in Carolina, GM being best friends with Dan Morgan, and obviously Brian Burns.

I'm just happy to get rid of him. It would have been nice to get more compensation, but once we turned down the Rams' offer, we were screwed on that front. We were destined to take an L. But, we were able to take a substantial amount of savings with his departure and ultimately prioritize the O-line while possibly improving the D-line despite Burns' departure. On one hand wasted opportunity was a hard pill to swallow, but the savings opened up different opportunities.

This. I sure wish we had taken the Rams' offer but that ship had sailed. I wish we had been able to get a better return for him but we were holding a much weaker hand at the time and we were basically in a position that we simply needed to move him for the best offer that we could get.

    • agree to disagree you are entitled to that opinion even though I find the argument completely bizarre based on data. I could type out a long paragraph discussing those areas but what’s the point. I posted a screenshot that showed Bryce in a similar post snap situation with a free rusher in his face which resulted in a TD - that’s what happened on the play so I posted it.
    • I've already addressed this notion in a previous reply. You are basing your assertion outside reality if you think Bryce would have not only been more successful but defeated the Patriots in place of Herbert. Bryce got blown off the field by that Patriots team with the highest paid OL in the league. We've seen Bryce with an OL that gave up 65 sacks and it resulted in the #1 pick. And that is not a defense of Herbert or arguing he is a great QB in any way. He has physical talent but he has been similar to Darnold early in his career in terms of his very up and down perfomances. However that does not change the fact that they have significantly less invested in the OL than the Panthers.
    • I think Tepper has been setting the stage where pending there is no miracle he wipes it all clean.  Think you already have been told that with small things like Evero staying.  Bryce is the guy next year.  OC, DC, everything stays the same.  QB room largely the same.  Nothing would really matter there.  They basically get one more shot and it goes how the schedule paired with our 27th ranked O predictably most likely goes.  Everyone out the door together.  Bryce is a bridge tier QB.  I don’t see Dave surviving where he could be bridge QB here in reality.
