Our new kicker?

lol...so they are going to let kasay do the kickoffs this year. right.....

he'll be here and he will do well.

btw....i still can't believe that people are still getting upset over a KICKER leaving...a kickoff specialist thinking that it is just as bad as letting hoover go or something.

it's just a guy for kickoffs. you just need to find a guy with a big leg and this guy has one. it isn't a replacement for kasay. it's a replacement for a guy who just did kickoffs. there won't be much of a drop off if any at all.

but go ahead...keep on with the DOOOOOMMMED talk. :cryin:

I don't DOOM. But I'll make a deal with you...I'll learn magic and put a spell on every person that dooms it up, the day you stop with your "we'll be fine" talk. It's positive and optimistic, sure...and in this instance we're just talking about a retarded kicker...but it's just as naive. You don't know a damn thing about this kid.

But like I said...I'll go Gandalf on the doomers if you stop acting like everything is sunshine and flowers. How soon you forget your turn to the darkside last season.

This guy will not be on the roster come August. He is here to allow Kasay to rest during camp and not over exert himself by kicking too much...remember, he is like 60.

very true...I saw him today at his first field session and, although he just went through warmups and some long runs, he is one of the worst athletes that I have ever seen. Not that this means he can't kick, but it was embarrassing to watch.

A big leg??? Out of 89 kickoffs, he had a total of 9 touchbacks. How does that constitute a big leg? Rhys LLoyd kicked off 72 times with 21 touchbacks. That is a huge difference.

Carolina has a history of bringing in extra kickers for camp. I will be surprised if this guy makes the final roster. I'm not saying that Kasay will handle kickoffs, we may sign someone else. I'm simply saying that I doubt it will be Carter.

I see you didnt look through the whole thread. He actually had 22 touchbacks with 84 kickoffs. Now THAT is a huge difference.

not saying that everything is sunshine and flowers. i just don't think there is any reason to start saying we're doomed all the time...especially when we are talking about some kicker. i'm far from saying that he will be great just that what little i've seen and heard there isn't reason to panic. he's not a world beater but he shouldn't do horribly either.

my turn to the darkside was based on a coaching staff that was unwilling to make changes. they made changes and now i'm optimistic that things will turn around. i'd like to throw in the word 'cautiously' in there, though. there are things that concern me but nothing that i don't think can't be corrected.

but...if you are willing to go gandalf on all those doomers (and not be so anti-optimistic) i'll back off on the unicorns crapping rainbows stuff.

lol...rhys wasn't all that athletic either. he doesn't need to be.

carter had 22 TBs on 84 his last year and that was before he started working with a trainer. not much reason to think that he'll be worse than that.
