People are gonna be screaming ref protection but that's an incomplete pass.

maybe.  But given they called it a fumble….I think the refs disregarded the rule and evidence required to change a call.

Which is basically the VT scenario.  I probably would have liked both those calls to be different on the field.  But they weren’t.  So I do think Miami gets saved by the refs ignoring the actual criteria required to change a play just using replay to remake the call (probably correctly).

Refs ain’t doing that for most teams.  So I think it fair to say the refs bail them out where most teams get screwed by the rules

I had thought they would have blown the whistle instead of letting Louisville pickup the ball and return it.

I like them letting it play out. When in doubt go with the call on the field that can get fixed by replay. Blow it dead and you can't fix it. You can give the, the ball but you can't give them the points.

He had clear control of the ball with the hand moving forward. By the letter of the rule it was very clear cut.

    • I mean, I think you're being a little hyperbolic with the last statement, but point taken.
    • Pass rush was the biggest issue in tonight’s game, and we were tied for 28th in sacks this season. That is a major area of need that has to get addressed this offseason. I just don’t see a path where there’s a game changing QB you can bring in with where we are drafting and quality of veterans that will be available. We certainly can do better than Dalton as a backup, and should ideally have a developmental guy  (perhaps a day 3 pick this year). We have bryce for one more year on a reasonable contract and then I think 2027 is the year that you reset that position (unless he massively improves).
    • Agreed, honestly basically bringing this group back as a healthy unit would be alright.  Brady Christensen should be resigned to a very reasonable deal with him recovering from the Achilles.  Atleast we're alright at 4 of our 5 spots with Lewis, Mays, Hunt, and Moton, Nijman was decent.  While if we can snag a deal on someone, take a stab, however our resources need to go to Linebacker, Pass Rush and a real option outside Tmac (coker is amazing, but if we can get someone who isnt braindead opposite Tmac, we can fully unleash Coker AND Tmacs full potential, cant move him into the slot if racoon boy is out there licking doorknobs).
