I mean, you just gotta be that blunt with some people. That's what they told people on Key West for Irma and a lot of them chose to stay anyway. Like, look... you're probably gonna die and if you survive there will be no help coming anytime soon. You're on your own.

Indeed. A close friend lives in Tampa and she is going ride it out. I’m like I’ll pay for you a plane ticket to get out and the answer was no. Wished her good luck.

No disrespect, but people like that are just stupid. They literally told people to evacuate or die. Why on earth would you ride out mother nature. People will never learn smh.

 

Hope your friend survives. But man I don't get people with that mindset.

Evacuated my father from his home in Vilano Beach right by St. Augustine since he’s in a zone A. It looks like he’ll be okay but didn’t want to take any chances since they did a mandatory evacuation for his county. He’s with me in Orlando and we are just waiting to the wind to start.

Be careful I'm watching some of these tornadoes videos from this storm and some of these tornadoes are massive.

Yeah the outbreak is insane. Worst part is tonight when it’s pitch black no one will be able to see them. Hate the nighttime landfalls.

No rescues until after the storm has passed. In other words if you stayed don't expect help right away. People that stayed are dumb.

Over 100 Tornado warnings in Florida, you’d think this is Oklahoma. Less than an hour from landfall.

Storm surge already affecting coastal communities. If you stayed you are fuged.

Power is out again here at the house. Back on the generator again. This is probably gonna be the norm for awhile. The whole power grid is basically held together with duct tape and bailing wire right now

Tropicana Field (home of the Rays) was being used as a shelter for first responders, the roof has now blown off.

my family is down outside of Sarasota about 35 miles from the coast. they said the worst was over by 3am. some in the area are getting their power back on after losing it around 5-6 last night. 

coastal areas are probably a lot worse, but so far the damage to my family's properties doesn't seem too bad. at least their homes are ok.

I think the tornado outbreak was the worst part of this storm. People on message boards say this was the worst tornado outbreak they have seen in the entire state. Some of those tornadoes were massive as well. Usually hurricane tornadoes are the skinny rope tornadoes that don't last very long.
