Bryce’s longest completion was 25 yards. He tried a 30 yarder but it was incomplete. Still need to see more completions 30+ yards.
But Byrce excelled in the short to intermediate which as a player of his size he should.

That's where over 90% of the game is played.

that's true but the 25 yarder is in general an easier completion if the defense is afraid of the deeper over their head threat. I'd file that in the 'harder than it has to be category' that you will have to work around when you deal with limitations.

He played really well though, not saying he did not. Legette left his feet again on that drop 30 yards down the sideline.

That throw had 40+ air yards on it. He needs to stop trying to high point a ball that’s hitting him in stride

I was watching the game again when I saw this reply so it only took a second to find it. I marked it as from our 44 to their 17 maybe 18 when the ball hit Legette's hands. So yeah very close to 40.

I hope that's not all he has. But with it being pretty accurate I am thinking he stayed within himself and didn't sell it all out to get the ball down there. Which selling all out effort wise negatively affects accuracy. So that's good.

It was a perfect throw on a rope, if he can do that consistently you don’t need much more in the NfL

Well I closed the game already without checking his footwork on that one but in general he has improved his mechanics. Not much regression yesterday, though it looked like he was flirting with it at times.

I thought they would pressure him more and was hoping to get a better test of how far along that was, in terms of has it 'taken'. Because it is the same scenario with the Buffalo preseason series where he had adopted the 'proper' form and got improved ball flight and zip and accuracy, the whole deal and then when NO started hitting him and pressuring him it did not take much time for it to all go out the window.

That's still the big test to me, of if we can expect to see him operate at the level required.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
