La Canfora says trade of Haynesworth is "very likely"

Not quite as likely as the Matt Moore trade to St. Louis for their first and third. Many have speculated the deal maybe done by Sunday morning.

If by "many" you mean people with no actual inside information but a lot of time on their hands, you're could conceivably be right.

I doubt we would ever make a play on him. But if someone is able to trade for him they will get great value. He is only owed $16 million over the next 3 years. Even if he is diva at times that is a pretty good price for someone who can be the most dominant DT in the game when he feels like it. He will never see the bonuses that were loaded into the back end of his contract.

We already had a player like that in Pep who we paid 1 MIL per game last season. You sure you want another one?:confused:

I doubt we sign Haynesworth. But think about it, at roughly 5 1/2 million per year for 3 years even playing most of the time would be a great deal. Do you think that we would have let Peppers go if he were only costing 6 million a year?

I wouldn't mind having Haynesworth. 16 MIL for 3 years is way cheaper than Pep. I only said what I said because some people didn't like the fact that Pep could be dominant anytime he wanted to but didn't show up. I was asking if you want a similar deal with Haynesworth.

Haynesworth playing at 80% beats anyone we have on our roster playing at 100%. I also have faith that Baker could get the best out of Haynesworth. He may have been playing for his new contract but Peppers played some of his best ball last year. Baker is considered a strong motivator.

Hypothetically speaking, if we do get Haynesworth, who do you line up beside him?

He's only missed 6 games in the past 2 years and has been very productive with 88 tackles and 12.5 sacks during that period. He has a very small contract after Washington paid the 21 million, a typical NFL ego and he is still in his prime. Only an idiot would refuse to not at least pursue him if he were available.

Fixed it for you!!:D

Maybe, but the whole "it'd be different if I were coaching him" notion has burned many a team.

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
