Passing yards per game leaders

Bryce needs a perfect OL to have average to slightly above average passing production, as the last few weeks have shown. That's what we hang our hat on? Meh.

He may very well be the best QB on the roster, but that isn't saying much at this point. I hope he bounces back to have a monster game next week. The issue is, that's basically 215 yards and a TD for him.

Now post the WR's each QB has. Lets see were Bryce weapons ranks vs the same QB's.

The whole justification for trading what we did to draft Bryce Young was that he was so good we would not have to surround him with elite talent across the offense.

If we have to do that for him to even be slightly average then guess what? We need competition at QB.

He has looked like a NFL starting QB since he came back from the benching. Not many QB's are going to do any better with these weapons.

Bryce is no Cam or Allen. He can't carry an offense due to his size. Even Brees needed weapons. Get the guy some legit help then judge him.

What about other teams OLs?  Our QBs have been sacked 28 times (21 on BY)..  This is virtually the lowest of any starting QB. Mahomes is at 35. Burrow at 33... Jayden Daniels is at 37 and CJ Stroud at 45. Yes others are lower but that's because good fuging luck sacking Allen lol.

We invested more than $150 million and a 1st 2nd 4th round draft pick in our offense last draft.  Bryce needs a perfect team around him just to look better than average...

Bryce Young is not Drew Brees.

If I could put that in a really big font I would because it needs emphasizing to some of you once and for all.

For the record. More often than not Brees main weapon was his OL. And as much as we dislike Sean Payton his scheme was also part of that.

Here's the list of receivers Brees had.

Now look at the names. And ask yourself. Outside of Colston. Who made who? And even Colston is only 63rd on the all time receiving yardage list. Brandin Cooks will pass him within the next season.

Jimmy Graham was probably the next best TE after Gronk during that era. How you forget about him.

Did he though?  Or are we only remembering what he looked like once he had those weapons.  Brees threw for 4400 yards his first year in NO . . . with a rookie Marques Colston as his top target.  Brees didn't *need* weapons, but yea, he had them.

So far, BY has shown the ability to be a marginal starter in the league.  That's it.  Where we picked him is no longer relevant.  Is "marginal starter" our organizational goal?  I hope not.

    • They are obviously waiting on for someone o the Seahawks or Patriots staff.  If they wanted Evero, it would be a done deal already. The only silver lining is if the guy they are waiting for turns them down.  In that instance I do think Evero is their backup plan.
    • Evero to the Raiders makes zero sense unless the OC he's pitching them is a failed HC who doesn't have interest in trying for it again. They're a team about to draft a QB #1 overall, developing him is job #1 for the new coach/staff.  Hiring a DC with a young up and coming OC wouldn't make any sense, because then you risk losing that OC to a HC job after maybe just a year or two and that young QB has to change system, play caller, etc. It's why hiring an offensive minded coach makes the only sense.  The Raiders have to make the right hire/pick with this HC hire and #1 pick combo because of that division they're in, it's a gauntlet and you can't screw up this opportunity.
    • 1. Sadly, it's just too early to tell with Icky. And the draft will have come and gone before we have anything, FA, too probably. Njiman was good, but there's dollars to be invested there as well. This is really our biggest puzzle to figure out. And Moton on the other flank is getting long in the tooth, too.  2. Coker: Pay the man WR2 money.  3. Most WRs take three years before you really know what you've got. We'll know for sure by the end of this one and he's still on a relatively inexpensive rookie contract. Now if someone comes calling for a good, good trade... 4. This is the make or break for good teams vs bad teams. And depth development is essential. We've had a bit of that but there isn't a spot on our line that doesn't have worries except for maybe on guard.  5. I think you draft the best ILB, the smartest one in the first round and don't look back. People lost their poo here on this board when we "wasted" a pick on Luke Kuechly.  6. Yeah, I think Chuba is a workhorse. But we need to be more decisive in his use. Still not sure Rico doesn't come back next season, too. He'll get to see the marketplace first, though, and we'll offer similar numbers to him.
