Roster Moves; QB Plummer signed to active roster

Per Joe Person

  • Hubbard; Smith-Wade added to IR
  • Mike Boone signed to active roster
  • Jack Plummer signed to active roster
  • Deshawn Williams elevated to active roster

Not sure why Plummer is getting signed unless they are taking a look at him. Bryce was on injury report this week but was FP on Friday.

Plummer going to be the #2?  I imagine he will get some time if the game slips away--one side or the other.   Might mean Dalton has taken his last snap in a Panther uniform.

Way I see it Plummer has to be the #2 otherwise he would just be elevated not signed.

They could shut Bryce down, although I doubt it. Canales always preaches how important reps are but then again you risk him getting hurt or having a bad confidence game. Who knows maybe his hamstring "flares up" and they use that to shut him down.

Interesting either way.

I think they are already thinking about the QB position and Plummer's last preseason game was strong, following a terrible one.  I imagine he plays, unless the game is on the line.

Wouldn't hang my hat on that performance. That game featured "the drive" by Bryce Young that had us riding a high into the regular season that quickly turned into a nightmare.

If Plummer gets playing time it's likely to get ugly.

I think Dalton is going to retire. He lost a lot of zip on the ball from Vegas to Washington. He looked exhausted after those 5 games.

I didn't see that at all. I am not saying this to disaparage Bryce but Dalton has more zip on most of his passes than Bryce. But he also generally has a stronger arm.

Honestly the Plummer move definitely smells like prepping to tank.

Even after the 5 games he still had more zip than Bryce. Maybe it was just me but I didn't see the game arm strength he had after the Vegas and Cinci games.

I think that was more to do with the results than the play. Go back and watch those games. He really didn't show any sign of physical decline, IMO.

Not saying it isn't possibly coming but I don't think that is something I would be that worried about. I would like to see him stick around, actually. I think he is good for Bryce and is definitely one of the most capable #2 QB's in the NFL.

    • I think Indiana will win it all but Miami should give them a much better fight than Oregon did.
    • When I tell people I was at that game, they usually say oh that’s so cool you had the experience. I call it soul crushing. Why? The weeks and months leading up to it were great, the team was fun to watch every week…some weeks the offense was unstoppable and carried the team (saints and giants road games), other times the defense carried the load (jaguars, tampa). Lots of back and forth games against good teams (Seattle and Indy). Good young players on the team, but the veteran leadership was incredible…from Cam, Olsen, Kalil and J Stew to Luke, TD, Norman, Tillman, Jared Allen, CJ. Role players like Fozzy Whitaker, Cotchery (he caught that MFer), Philly brown, Kyle love, AJ Klein, and so on.  The Friday before the nfc championship my wife and I after a few drinks said let’s see what prices look like for flights/accommodations and we got to talking about how much prices would increase if we waited until we found out if we would be in the big game. We said screw it, we are only out $200 if we have to cancel.  Of course we come out and just pulverized the cardinals in front of the most raucous crowd by far we’ve ever had. We had no idea what we would do for game tickets and then found out a neighbor who worked for the team could get us 2 for face value (each employee got two of their own for free, something cool that JR did).  But then the NFL mafia decided that the storyline of manning going out on top like Elway would give them more goodwill than a non traditional QB who didn’t connect with their target demo and the rest is history. I never have and never will watch that game again. I am just hoping I can see them win one in the 2nd half of my life.
