This is a QB School video about Baker, but he does a good job highlighting several of our defensive shall we call them 'miscues'.

Lord have mercy

that is abysmal

there is no excuse for these defenders to not know where they are supposed to be

sweet Jesus. What do these coaches do with these backups during the week

run a simple freaking defense and expect them to at least be able to tackle and be in the right spot

We were terrible, but that's to be expected when you look at the personnel.

Exactly. We had street free agents (LaBryan Ray, Sam Roberts, Caleb Farley) other team's practice squad additions (Chandler Wooten, Jacoby Windmon, Cam Gill) waiver claims (Akayleb Evans) undrafted free agent (Demani Richardson, who btw played very well) taking the majority of the defensive snaps.

Terrible? We are historically terrible. If we give up 39 points, we will have given up the most points in NFL history. If we give up the 176 yards rushing (our average), that will be the 4th most in modern history and the most in 46 years.

We are seeing history being made by this defense, so sit back and enjoy it. It might be another 30-40 years until we see it again.

    • This is the best path forward IMO right now.  Try and get a pass rusher with potential in FA, and those guys as the first two picks? Sign me up.  We have to get another LT in here in case Icky is done for, for Bryce and/or the next QB. Part of me says screw it, build the defense, get Nijman back for LT, and if Bryce can't make it work, he shows it. But then we're just right back in 2027 probably needing a QB AND a LT. I think LT has to be one of the first 2 picks and we hope he's a good one. Every move right now to me should be about building the team that's ready made for a QB in 2027, whether that's Bryce or another rookie.
    • Given that the immediate impact we need at edge. We almost certainly address that in Free agency, not in the draft. Same with Linebacker, unless Styles or Allen is still there at 19. I think the same for OT.  What is the position that we could draft in the 1st round and get immediate help in the first is how im approaching their decision-making  I know ill get dragged for this, but im thinking they go DT in the first. A guy that can play right away and be a complement to D.Brown to wreak havoc at the LOS.   So unless a top tier LB is there, I think DT will be the move.
    • I think people forget that by his last season Steve Smith had the ass and he played like it - and for no really good reason other than that other stars were emerging on the team and he didn't want to share the spot light.  He was more of a locker room distraction than he was worth. He went on to have great performances with the Ravens' but G-man made the right move allowing him to move on from here.  I personally think it was addition by subtraction and we don't have a super bowl run with Smith on the roster. Steve Smith remains a narcissist who I've never seen internalize his own culpability when it comes to his relationships with others - it's always somebody else's fault as to why he was forced to act like an asshole. This video is a product ad.  I'm cringed that either of these two Panther greats are party to it.
