Chris Harris Traded For LB Jamar Williams

Logical fallacy. You're making the faulty assumption that if somebody complains about an NFL owner cutting $50 million in payroll or whatever the number is up to now by trading away/cutting virtually all veterans of note then that person is being a hypocrite if he didn't also support paying a lazy player $20 million for a single season of work.

Newsflash: There IS a middle ground. Good teams know that. Teams that have never had consecutive winning seasons don't.

I have never heard you say one thing positive about the Panthers.. never. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'd hate to continue to think you're the most over-dramatic person I've ever come across.

If you think this Harris deal was a bad one.. so be it. I'm not sure what to think, myself.

I'm not really harping on any point you've made.. just a general statement about who you appear to be on this message board.

I'm not even sure I've heard you say you like the Panthers.. lol

Now all we have to do is...

Cut Stewart and Williams, start Sutton and Goodson...cheaper and younger.

Cut Smith, start Edwards...cheaper and younger.

Cut Beason and Davis, start, well hell, we have about 36 cheaper younger LBs...pick two.

Cut Gross, start Robinson...cheaper and younger.

Superbowl!

Sorry I make light of it to avoid anger.

[bears fan here, hoping to give you some perspective]

When team management is under fire, generally any move they make gets roasted by fans as another horrible mistake in a line of horrible mistakes. It happens with Carolina fans, Chicago fans, and pretty much every where else that hasn't won a SuperBowl recently.

Jamar Williams was drafted to replace Lance Briggs several years back when Lance was claiming he'd "played his last game in a Bears uniform" -- clearly that didn't turn out as expected.

Every time Jamar has had the chance to play as a WLB, he's flashed skills. In previous years, he's been touted by the Bears as the 4th LB, and has backed up all 3 starting LB positions, despite the fact that physically, he's far better suited to playing on the weak side in space than being a strong-side backer or MLB. Williams is incredibly athletic, and will be able to start for the Panthers rather than languishing in Briggs' shadow. He's talented enough that he can readily start as a 4-3 WLB or an 3-4 ILB without much difficulty -- you're going to be surprised by this guy.

sounds like we could have that guy we've been trying to replace Diggs with.. a more athletic LBer..

he's already at the top of my list to hear/see at TC...

    • We had a QB who could do that and its the last time we went to the Super Bowl and the only time we had an MVP. Once he lost his ability to do that he was out of the league. To filter out insignificant stats I will only look at QBs who have played in 10 or more games this year. There are 28 qualifying QBs. Bryce is 25th in Air Yards per Attempt at 6.4. Only Joe Flacco, Cam Ward, and Dillon Gabriel are worse (6.0, 5.8, 5.1). Trevor Lawrence, Patrick Mahomes, and CJ Stroud are the median QBs at 7.1. Drake Maye and Sam Darnold lead the league at 8.7. Bryce is 18th in the league for passes that travel 30+ yards at 12. The median is Caleb Williams at 15. The league leader is Matthew Stafford with 26. With passes that travel 40+ yards, Bryce is tied with three others at 21st in the league with 3. Only Jacoby Brissett, Cam Ward, Joe Flacco, and Dillon Gabriel are worse. The median is a three-way tie with Drake Maye, Trevor Lawrence, and Baker Mayfield with 6. The league leader is Sam Darnold with 12. Having the ability to complete passes down the field (not YAC) stretches the defense and makes them account for more ground. It keeps players out of the box and keeps formations in nickel or dime, less line backers for your RBs to worry about. Bryce is why we have 2 losses against the Saints. If he had the outright ability to sling the football down field we beat the easily, but he doesn't. So they crowded the box and our 2 starting caliber RBs with our top ~10 Oline couldn't carry the offense to a win on their own. The limitations of the offense fall squarely on Bryce.
    • Bryce’s deep passes are intermediate passes for other strong armed QBs. I will say that Bryce’s accuracy on his deep passes have improved. Before they would just sail out of bounds. Now the WR actually has a fighting chance on the ball.
