What if...

yes...a what if thread...

BUT, what if...Matt Moore takes us to the superbowl, and wins it? What do we do with him?

A.)Re-sign him long term, groom Clausen and...?

B.)Franchise, then trade him?

I would take option B. Look at the teams that should need a QB next year...Buffalo, KC if Cassell sucks again, Jacksonville...I mean LA if Garrard can't get it done, or Minnesota if Favre retires before this season, or after this season before the draft. If all those teams were interested, I'd choose Minnesota. 2 reasons...1, because I would hate to trade anyone to the Bills or Jaguars, maybe the Chiefs. he would go from one good offense to another.......and 2, because Minny has good recievers, is deep at that position, and we will need more than Brandon LaFell and Armanti Edwards once Smitty decides to retire or starts to decline in production. We COULD GET in return, their 1st round pick which should be around 25th if Favre comes back, and Sidney Rice, a new #1 reciever. Smitty could continue to help Sidney Rice develop into a star, while he helps LaFell and Edwards. Remember when Arizona still had Boldin to go along with Fitzgerald, Breaston, and Doucet? If we are able to re-sign D-Will and have J-Stew to continue our dominant running game, then have Rice/Smitty/LaFell/Edwards to throw the ball to...with a young franchise QB(Clausen), we would be almost unstoppable once we got the ball...

just sayin...

If Moore were to win the Superbowl. Unless he rapes somebody, why would you trade him? Because of Clausen? Just becuse the experts say he is the most ready rookie QB to play at the pro level doesn't mean he is. I'd rather have a proven winner in Moore than a possible winner in Clausen.

But this is a "What if..." so sure, why the hell not...

Can we seriously make creating a "What to do with Moore/Clausen" thread a bannable offense? It's getting annoying repeating the same thing in each thread, worse than the Vick threads almost.

With our O-line, both will probably succeed, and eventually one will get traded for value.

IF, and that is a huge if, Moore takes yall to the SB, I say the Panthers need to keep grooming Clausen for a couple years, and let Moore keep starting. That way if Moore starts to play bad, you have a guy who, according to the "experts", has been ready to play for a couple years now. Moore gets traded for bad play after a SB win, and Clausen gets to come in with years of grooming.

If Moore wins the SB, and keeps playing well, you trade Clausen to a QB needy team. My niners might need a QB if Alex doesn't play well this year.

    • It's definitely a historical issue at QB but to be perfectly blunt, we also don't do a good job of really developing almost any position if you look at the last decade or so. I tend to be on the side of that being far less a development issue than an evaluation deficiency.  I think we are in the situation at QB2/3 recently due to the overall roster being absolutely abhorrent and the QB classes being quite thin. It is harder to justify another Matt Corral(or several) when you can potentially get a real two deep contributor at other positions.  But, it was a lot of hard work to get to the point where are roster is so incredibly bad that luxury picks literally are not in our vocabulary.  This is the reaping what you sow portion of our history.
    • That is what I meant about our front office. They are like someone filling out a March Madness bracket based on preference of uniform colors and mascots. There's no rhyme of reason to some of these fugg'n mind numbing decisions they make.  They go all in on these flimsy-@ss prospects and are gun shy when it comes to more solid prospects.  It's literally maddening and the reason I stopped being so emotionally involved in this team. Heck the only reason I'm active on the board today is one, it's my day off and two, it's cut down time.
