So yeah, priority has to be to get Bryce more weapons, of course, right?

It’s all about defense. Always has been, always will be. I hope Tep is paying attention  tonight.

This is why I laugh at mocks having us taking a TE at 8

You can't break the mold. The format is what it is. It's a condensed concert of snippets of hits. You play the game or you don't get the gig. It is what it is.

His song "Not Like Us" has 1 billion! spotify plays, the video has 230M views, Drake sued him over it (diss track) and he still played like 1 minute of it haha. The same thing happens to me when they put on some shitty country artist who they play in CVS every day and I'm like what was that poo, but Kendrick is a true artist. I get that it doesn't translate to the general public though, and the art is too obscure for the average watcher to comprehend

Love Kendrick but that's what I'm saying, it's just a bad format for him.

I doubt he feels that way. He doesn't even use social media so I dunno how any of this would affect him negatively. He won't lose any fans that he already has in the underground. Seems like the perfect anti-establishment performance for me

It makes a lot of people uncomfortable and amplifies real hip hop music to younger generations. Sounds like a win/win to me.

Not saying any of that. I'm just saying it's not a great format for him to display his talent. That's it, that's all.

I like Kendrick Lamar a lot but that wasn't great. Just not the right format for him. He's a real rapper and the SB halftime show is for popstars doing 30 seconds snippets of pop songs.

They should have let Lil Wayne have it.   It would have worked better.  Wayne has some almost pop-ish songs.   Huge catalog and colabs with others to pull from.  Could have given a nod to all the New Orleans rappers that brought him up and totally catered to us 40 year olds!   Hot Boyz, Juvenile, Big Trymers, Cash Money.

I definitely think there is a propensity to overvalue offense and neglect defense, but Philadelphia is a really complete team. They have arguably the best offensive line in the NFL (detroit maybe the only other team with a case), #1 RB, top WR duo, top 10 TE and a pro bowl QB. Their defense is mostly made up of fantastic draft picks and bargain free agents.

But to your general point, you can't be myopic. You have to build an entire team. I hope the Panthers front office didn't need to wait till the super bowl to figure that out. Having the worst defense in nfl history this past year should be enough motivation to start investing more in the defense.

    • To me, this seems like they feel they aren't going to be competitive. I can't help but go back to Bryce. Good guy, but he doesn't inspire people to give it their all. He isn't a "leader" that people look to. There is no Smith, Delhomme, Kuechly, Cam, etc. coming in that door.  It has to be Bryce, but biologically speaking, how often is the shortest man in the room going to command the kind of respect that will drive people? It just isn't. That isn't how we are wired. That isn't how any living animal on Earth today is wired.  I just follow the science guys.
    • Vick's issue with Reid was that he couldn't take a hit, and he wouldn't go down. Otherwise he was pretty good much of the time.  Mahomes has a system that works. Mahomes doesn't become Mahomes elsewhere because not everyone can extract 125% of the ability of a specific player like Reid can. Kevin O'Connell is beginning to look like he has that ability as well but I'll need to see how he does with his Redshirt Freshman.  I also wonder how much of their playoff issue last year was related to the offense as a whole and not just Darnold. Fans don't really dive into the "why" things happen, they just see the what and complain about it.
