HOF Today Article...

Big Ben was the starting QB for the Pittsburgh Steelers when they beat the Eagles but he was by far stellar. His QB rating that game was like 67 if I remember correctly.

Every sports channel has been all over Willis's jock since the two came into the league. I don't see how they can leave Beason off if they are including Willis.

Comparing stats Willis's numbers are greater but lets not forget that the 49ers are 20-28 since Willis Arrival compared to the Panthers 27-21 record. Which would put Willis on the field more than Beason.

Both playing all 48 games since their arrival in the league.

Player______ PW_ JB

Total Tackles 467 420

Solo_Tackles 358 328

Asst_Tackles 109 92

Total___Sacks 9 3

Pass__ Defend 23 21

Pass _Intrcptd 4 7

Returned _TDs 2 0

Returnd_ YDs 119 98

Forced_ Fmbls 6 1

The only glaring difference is forced Fumbles and Sacks

reggie white, sam mills, kevin greene. a few former panthers. i didnt see any of these guys. reggie white is considered the best pass rusher ever.

maybe steve smith has an outside chance if he gets the help he needs in edwards and lafell. hopefully things will pan out for him if he has some great seasons left.

if julius peppers has 4 or more years of consistant 10+ sack seasons, he will have an outside shot.

Reggie White is already in the HOF. Mills and Greene were great players but only so many of an era get included.

Peppers might have a chance but hasn't put up the big numbers like a Bruce Smith did for example. Smith played in 279 games and had 200 sacks. Peppers by comparison has played in 130 games and has 81 sacks.

Smith would have to put up probowl numbers for 5 or 6 more years to be included. HOF status requires great numbers and a long career for most players.

As for Beason, Kirwin included one guy at several positions. Doesn't mean Beason won't get there simply that only so many are included every year. Lots of great players never make it because someone else's star shined a little brighter than theirs did.

in the event that I ever become famous and or a HOF voter, i will petition till the day i die that steve smith belongs in the hall of fame. the dude made Jake Delhomme look like a competent QB throughout an 8(?) year span. he should not be punished because he has been double covered his entire career because the panthers won't give him any help, or a QB that can throw to more than one target.

Lmfao at Brandon Marshall being on that list when they left out Fitzgerald.

Just lol, lol, lol.

Also as for Beason being in Willis' shadow: that's not something to get upset about. Willis is arguably the best defensive player in the league. Willis/Beason are the Ed Reed/Troy Polamalu of ILB's.

    • I don't necessarily think he will be moved, I would currently be leaning against that notion. I think a lot will depend on the coaching situation. Carroll certainly can't be thinking about wanting to go through a serious strip down and overhaul, so the longer he plans to remain, the less likely I think Crosby gets moved.
    • I think everyone says Mike Evans because of size, but really they have different strengths and play styles.  Tmac is better on intermediate routes and not nearly as good at contested catches.
    • At this point, it is criminal to go into the 2026 training camp/OTA's with XL penciled in as a #2 WR. The team must upgrade, either through free agency or the draft. If he cannot give 100% effort on significantly less snaps as a #4-6 WR(players like Tremayne have done that consistently) then I don't think you have a player worth rostering beyond the trade deadline. Offensively, we eventually have to upgrade to an NFL starting caliber C. It's been almost the length of time from Gross to Ikey since Kalil retired and we have below average to terrible C play. Love Mays as a BC-esque utility backup but he will never be an above average long term starting C.  The TE room is one of the worst in the NFL but it's a low usage position in this offense, so the investments are likely to be small, if any. I would never expect to see an elite TE in a Dave Canales offense. 100% agree on OL depth. We actually aren't bad there but BC will be gone, Mays is a UFA, Corbett is a UFA and Zavala has been both injured and bad. We have to bolster that depth again or resign guys like Mays and Corbett to keep that depth somewhat stable.
