A Peppers question

Sorry for another Peppers thread.........but......

Just read the nice post/thread by the Bears fan. Got me to thinking about Peppers again. And then thinking about him and the Bears...that brings up Cutler, brings up INT's brings up Jake.

That got me to wonder....does Pep disappear when the offense sucks (such as the Arizona playoff debacle?)

Seemed like Pep was a beast when Moore was playing QB last year. So, does good offense get you good Peppers' effort? Does he lose interest if the O is not producing?

Is there a correlation here over time?

He was probably pumped once we had a QB that quit shoving the defense out on the field. I remember him running out to high five Moore I think during the giants or vikings game.

But I also think peppers started playing well at the end of the year to get potential employer's potential.

If he had started that earlier....he might have broken some records....meaning $$$$$$. Most playing for contract this year guys start sooner.

I think like all players, the more you play the more tired you would get. So ya I think the less he played the more he could put out on the field.

The whole disappearing argument is stupid cause no one can dominate everyone every play in a game.

He will always be a panther in my eyes and I hope he retires as one.

pep ran down the field when somebody broke a long td and started to show emotion after the helm was turned over to matt.so i think you might be on to something.i would have rather he stayed but, the owner didnt.remember you dont let valuable players walk away from your team.

he was insanely expensive though. I'd rather pay the guys who want to retire here like TD.

We wouldn't be getting our money's worth anyway, him staying would make him sad and then he would never give 100%.

Pep showed up the 2nd half of last season because he needed to show he could still play and put up #'s. Just like he did towards the end of the season prior.

Sadly I think the Bears will get Peppers we saw his first three years here. The bears will get that Pep for maybe one or two season and that will be it.

Yes, he shut down when the Panthers got down. Will he do that with the Bears? I guess if it happens week after week, he will be at the bank by November. Who knows with Cutler, he doesn't have Tommy Jone to blame for peaks sake!

I'm fully prepared for Peppers to have a big year, he's going to feel the need to prove himself for the first time in a long time.

My guess is that he will start off big, but the rest of the year depends on the offense. If Cutler is Cutler again.......

    • It is a tough decision.  There is another factor.  Is he in game shape?  A tired Hunt is not better than an "in-shape" Corbett.  When coming off an injury, it is natural to want to protect the injured area, even if it is completely healed.  This can cause you to contort your body for no reason, lose fundamentals, and it could lead to other injuries.  For example, I had a knee in high school that required getting taped.  That made me aware of the knee (not used to tape on my knee) and I pulled my groin (favoring or dragging the leg with the tape).  The trainer explained the groin injury the way I do here--but scared money makes no money.  If he is cleared to play, he is cleared to play.  Watch him, rotate him in for a series, etc.  Specifically, I would want to watch the matchup--who is winning more--Corbett or Hunt?  How is the defense reacting (if at all) to Hunt being in?  Etc.
    • Shannon was sued for $50 million (settled out of court, I believe) for forcing sex on his girlfriend during a two-year relationship.  He denies it, but ESPN let him go last April.  Chad Johnson's wife filed a police report because he head-butted her in a car and was put on probation. I had to google it.  I watched the Ray Rice video and when you see it, you realize just how vile and cowardly abusing a woman really is.  But for the same point Aussie tried to make, these women are defenseless, and being phyiscally bigger and stronger does not validate your actions.   I can't even stand to watch Steve Smith.  I can't normalize this kind of behavior--again, I do not think R-P had that in mind when he posted this.  When the reason was exposed, we should realize that we are talking life (quality of) and death (in some cases) here.
    • I can respect the fact that we should not glorify or normalize men who have a history of beating women.  I do not think anyone was thinking of that when they posted this, but if head-butting your wife and unconsensual sex (rape) is something you cannot overlook, I agree with that.  I think they are both half-crazed attention hounds regardless of their pasts.
