Honestly, I think this is one of Pat Yas's better columns and he does build up Williams quite a bit in the final paragraph.

As recently as a couple of days ago, Jamar Williams looked like a backup linebacker and special-teams player for the Carolina Panthers. Now, he could be a starter.

Wouldn't be the first time that the Panthers made something happen with a "throw-in" player.

Al Wallace comes to mind. Jason Baker also to a lesser degree.

I think that will happen too. Our coaching staff isn't stupid. We have a potentially solid MLB who has been sitting on the bench. Beason is versatile and can play any of the positions. It'd make the most since to move Beason around and plug in guys who are a little more specialized.

A good many Bears fans sure seem to think a lot of Jamar Williams. Some of them even thought he was just as good as Lance Briggs.

Anyway, I'm pretty confident that Meeks will field a good LBer corps with the players he has. They finished the season very strong last year despite the loss of TD, which was impressive.

As a bear fan, I was comofrtable whenever jw was on the field. He didn't worry me a bit. The one game he started in he led the team in tackles by rackin up almost 20. Granted, it was against the rams. Some people criticize his coverage ability.
