What Charger fans think of us.

I live in San Diego and work with many hardcore Chargers fans.

On average they don't know the first thing about our team or our strengths and weaknesses and whenever I bring up the '08 game it just gets brushed off.

I mean, I don't think they are any worse than other teams' fans. They certainly aren't as annoying as Philly/Dallas/Pats fans.

I live in San Diego also, the one thing I've noticed over the years is how fairweather the fans are. It's the offseason, and no one, absolutely no one talks about football...whereas fans of any other team out here are constantly talking about their respective teams. Also, unless the chargers are winning, you won't see ANY jerseys out here. Haha

There is plenty to do in S.D. rather than talk football. They have girls, the Padres doing pretty good, girls, beaches, beautiful weather, and plenty of girls. Just b/c not as many people aren't talking about football now, they arent necessarily fairweather, but have other things more relevant.

2 franchise QB's?? try 2 journey men awful to average QB's.

Try 2 1 year wonder nobody limited RB's. RM will be better than both by the end of 2010, I'll make a $50 Pay Pal bet.

You have one of the 5 worst o-lines in the NFL.

Your CB's are undersized and really average at best.

Steve Smith is washed up and injury prone and has no QB throwing to him.

Outside of Beason, you really have no real starters on your defense.

Rivers demolished your D in that game. Even washed up LT had his way until injured.

There is a reason you started what 0-5 or 0-6 last year. You don't have much talent on your team.

You have 1 year wonder RB. No WR's outside of a older undersized injury prone malcontent WR, no TE's, bad o-line, no QB, lost any players worth anything on your d-line, 1 good LB, the secondary not much to write home about.

I'll bet you anything you wont win more than 3 or 4 games next year.

Okay, I have to admit this is some pretty uninformed stuff from the Charger fan side.

First of all, a journeyman is someone who's been on various NFL teams as a backup. Clearly this guy doesn't know what the word means. Matt Moore doesn't fit that mold and certainly Jimmy Clausen obviously can't since he's a rookie :sosp:

Undersized, average corners? Gamble is 6'1. Marshall is 5'11. CJ Wilson is also 6'1. The others are mostly 5'10 or 5'11, average size for an NFL corner. Captain Munnerlyn and new guy Robert McClain are the only ones that could be considered undersized, and I doubt this guy even knows their names.

For perspective, the Charger best corner - Quentin Jammer - is 6'0, an inch shorter than Gamble. They have one guy who's 6'1 (Antoine Cason) and the rest are, surprise, 5'10 or 5'11, with one guy who's 5'9. The only guy they did have who was taller than Gamble was 6'2 Antonio Cromartie, who's now a Jet.

As to the defense, Chris Gamble is a known quantity as was Thomas Davis pre-injury. Tyler Brayon is a solid starter and both Charles Godfrey and Sherrod Martin had good flashes. Throw in that the last time the Chargers saw our defense, Mike Trgovac was in charge of it.

The last time Steve Smith missed major time was in 2004. That hardly qualifies as injury prone. As to "washed up"? Ask the people who covered him in the latter part of last season (before his injury) if they agree. I can pretty much guarantee if Steve Smith became available even now, loads of teams would be clamoring for him, likely including the Chargers.

As of week 5 last year, we were 2-3, not 0-5. The Chargers were also 2-3. Yes, they finished better, but who knows how we might have finished had Coach Fox not been as stubborn? Throw in that they were one and done in the playoffs, losing to the Jets (to whom they just traded one of their best corners).

As to the other statements, most of them are too stupid to even bother with. The "one year wonder nobody limited RB" statement is beyond stupid. The O-Line comment isn't much smarter.

Bottom Line: I'll not paint the entire fanbase from this guy (like I said, Bolt is one of the smarter fans I know) but this guy is ridiculously uninformed, especially for the comments he's making.

No doubt there are plenty of things to do in sd!! Haha. There's never a dull moment, ever. But the fact is, until regular season starts up, there are no charger fans in sd pretty much, even last year, they didn't start coming out til about midseason when they started doing good again. It's funny. But most of that can be attributed to the fact that sd is a cultural melting pot and mist everyone who lives here is a transplant.

That's very true, with a large hispanic influence and their futbol is not Chargers football. Similar with Charlotte, many folk from the northeast and midwest who are fans of their home teams.

worst thing about transplants is you can never complain about the weather.

You say it's too hot somebody from Arizona makes fun of you.

You say it's too cold somebody from Minnesota makes fun of you.

You are worried about tornadoes somebody from Kansas makes fun of you.

Never ends.

How could the vikings have a better tandem when Deangelo and Stewart are both better than AP?

I don't get it either. Maybe he thinks Chester Taylor is still with the Vikings? Even then, I think Williams and Stewart are a much better tandem.

I'm not saying their the best in NFL history, but they are the best in the NFL right now.
