Do we really want a true #1 WR?

Gotcha. Wasn't sure if you were staunchly anti TE in the top ten or not.

I generally don't think there is a top 10 caliber TE. I feel the same about DE/EDGE.

However, those are both insanely deep positions that I absolutely want to draft in this class.

I may be wrong(most likely am), but I think Warren is a top ten caliber TE. But I've posted all that before, so won't do so again.

Yeah, it is not just the weapon, it is the manipulation of the coverage to cover that weapon-fewer blitzes, rolled S--If you see that your #1 is in man coverage based on the S, for example, you go to the #1.  If he gets S help, someone else should be open.   We all know that. Considering our needs and considering Free Agency and the Draft, we might have to work XLs butt off and see if he can step up.  Not ideal, but the pressure will either make or break him.

One point, just playing devils advocate, is that since we gave up so much capital to get Bryce the most important thing for the Panthers to figure out is how good he is/high his ceiling can be.  We’ve also seen Diggs to the Bills helping Josh Allen explode, Chase with Burrow etc. If we take TMac at 8 or whomever/however they try to upgrade it,  are any of us going to be crying if we see it help Bryce make a big jump?

Obviously our Defense needs big time help and overhaul but it could take a season or 2 for that to become a strength again. People are expecting a lot out of a largely rookie Defense to turn it around if we’re just going that route

Happy Saturday cheers!

Bryce could use a stud TE and a stud WR--but dang, making him good is expensive--$80m offensive line--first rounders at WR.... and there will be a day when he wants $60m....Happy Sat.

Actually Josh Allen had a great year without Diggs. We need our defense to give the ball back to the offense. A great WR can't do that.

You could argue that last season, we had Coker, AT, XL, and Moore after loosing our #1.  Our best TE was a rookie fourth rounder.  Bryce's last 9 games were impressive.  KC, Philly games we could have won with a defense. The Panthers were 4-5 and could have been 6-3 down the stretch--with no true #1.  We will add a WR or two somehow.

I am encouraged that Morgan is not kicking the can down the road by extending contracts.  He is trying to keep the core together.  Corbett was a smart move.  Tremble, with Sanders and a new TE, could be a decent group.  So it seems that a RB, TE, RT, and WR are left.  I am guessing the T and RB will be drafted; it seems to be the best place to get them.

I was talking about when the Bills first brought in Diggs. That’s when Allen skyrocketed. I said in the post obviously the D needs overhaul.

Scoring touchdowns instead of kicking field goals and converting 3rd downs instead of punting helps too

You can tell Canales is an aggressive playcaller. We’re going to take big shots. I remember a lot of great “almost” touchdown, chunk plays, and 3rd down conversion completions that should’ve been caught. Those can be as game changing as a turnover

cheers!

I haven’t watched a full NFL game in years. I moved on. But the fact remains, you need a number 1.  Ask the Vikings if Justin Jefferson makes them much better. San Fran will miss Debo.

These stances are stupid. Tyreke Hill (and Kelce is basically like having another WR1) was pretty good in the playoffs. Heck, he was amazing when the Bengals beat KC after that wild Buffalo game. Chase in Cincy is pretty good too and he lost to Stafford and Kupp. AJ Brown and Smith had some nice TDs for Philly in the SB. Randy Moss helped Brady have his best year ever in an almost undefeated year. There are loads of examples but people seem to forget then Welkers, Edelmans, Branches, especially when the team has a Gronk or Kelce.

    • Having trouble finding all these articles saying the Raiders withheld information. Here’s the latest from Crosby’s surgeon: ElAttrache told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday morning that Crosby was "doing very well in the early part of his rehab and recovery from surgery to treat a significant meniscus tear and the related stress injury to the bone and cartilage in his knee. He is certainly on track in his planned program." "We truly respect the work of the Ravens' staff with Maxx regarding the contract physical exam. We also understand the challenge the staff faces when tasked to provide a future risk assessment based on an evaluation early in the recovery process," ElAttrache said. "This is especially challenging when dealing with an elite player like Maxx considering the level of commitment necessary for a team to obtain him. The timing of this assessment is unfortunate because the apparent risk will lessen as his recovery progresses and his return to performance over the next few months becomes clear."     So the Ravens excuse is the future risk assessment based on the physical, not that the Raiders withheld information. They found an excuse to save face publicly. They had the right to cancel the trade for no reason at all, but they’re trying to save face with the most acceptable reasoning they can find. I’ve heard and seen the Ravens getting dragged everywhere for this. You know what would be an easy way to put a stop to that if you’re the Ravens and the Raiders were actually the shady ones withholding information? Just come out and say that you were not given all the medical information. But they aren’t saying that. I guess they’re just taking the bullet for the Raiders just because?    Speculation indeed.
    • Two first round picks for a guy with very questionable knees who will be 29 this summer. Yes it is safe to say the Ravens got cold feet.
    • The salary cap is the reason we got Phillips and Lloyd
