Gantt still believes Jarrett is No. 2

Darin Gantt of the Rock Hill Herald believes the Panthers' starting flanker job is Dwayne Jarrett's "until he coughs it up."

Gantt calls Jarrett blowing the opportunity "possible." In the Burning Questions piece for our 2010 Fantasy Preview, however, Gantt noted that Jarrett "always looks great in practice," making it similarly possible that the fourth-year wideout's biggest obstacle so far has been coach John Fox's veteran deference. Jarrett is now the veteran, competing with rookie Brandon LaFell.

i think he'll start. lafell will be breathing down his neck though, and if he performs well at WR3 i could see a change being made midway through the season.

Just like Clausen will be good for Moore, LaFell will be good for Jarrett. Or they could both go down in flames.

Dwayne is more worthy of it. jake would only throw to smith, so we could never really see talent, that was until moore steped in

Its all about motivation. Jarrett has always had the talent, no doubt. but every year he has had an established starter or vet in front of him. being a #3 WR on this team may as well not even dress on game days.

so he hasnt really been trying very hard. when given the opportunity; i.e when someone was injured, he showed glimpses of potential that we all hoped he had on draft day a few years ago as moose 2.0.

hopefully with the job essentially being his to lose, he will feel the pressure from the other young WR's and step it up. he will get a chance in TC since smitty wont be getting reps, so i am guess him, lafell and edwards get plenty of snaps with the #1 unit, so they can be compared easily.

hopefully this will work in our favor and the competition (since it is now legit) will help everyone develop, much like godfrey did last season once martin came in and played very well.

he knows he is fighting for his future, and the stage is set, so he better leave it all on the field.
