Panthers may cut entire WR squad not named Smith...

Well, reports from minicamp were that Armanti was making incredible catches and moves as a WR. BUT, it's a totally different game with pads on and live hits.

I really hope he steps up b/c he has many of the tools that we were looking for with a guy like Golden Tate... That's who I wanted us to get as well. But, if Edwards can figure out the route running, I think we should be good.

As far as LaFell, I just don't know. There's no excuse to be that big and not be able to catch the ball consistently.

What I do know is that we have tons of young talent at the WR position, but as it stands right now, all that talent is potential untapped - and that doesn't translate to productivity.

not even smith is immune... he was totally slacking off.

:iagree:Yeah walking around like he's too good to go out there and snag a couple of balls down with his broken forearm... What does he want? The guys to put on flags and YMCA t-shirts. I'm disappointed in his effort.

Sorry I like Edwards and all but no way is he even on the same level as Tate. Tate has the catching and leaping ability of a great WR and power and agility of a RB. Maybe with a lot of work (both on the field and with coaches, and some serious time in the weight room) he might be were Tate is now. I would put money on Tate becoming a beast. If only he would stay away from the late night doughnut runs.

i think fiz was saying that the #2 WR has been on the team and his name is dante rosario.

gary barnidge is a really good receiver and jeff king is pretty stinkin reliable.

we could do worse than having to rely on those guys. all of our RBs are decent receivers as well.

just use them more.

Well, that's why I said the guys we brought in our talented but nothing but untapped potential at this point. Edwards is learning a new position and LaFell can't get out of his own way with drops.

I meant in terms of open field ability and speed, Tate and Edwards are comparable... But, in terms of overall ability as of right now (size/strength/positional skill) Tate clearly is better than Edwards. I just hope Edwards can get up on that level by season's end, the sooner the better though...

It seems like just yesterday that Rosario was a go-to target in the 2008 season opener in SD, not to mention grabbing the game winner. I for one thought he would see an increased role in the passing game, but it seemed to go in the other direction.

    • The Panthers did a great job of countering the Falcons' pass rush in the run game. They utilized veteran wideout David Moore, a good run blocker on the perimeter, as the motion man to help with crack-toss plays and trap blocks. It was also interesting to see more Sean McVay wide zone concepts in Canales’ version, especially with the “insert” concept that is a table in these systems.   Second-year cornerback Chau Smith-Wade didn’t come out of the gates hot, but settled in and put forth a fine performance. His spacing in zone coverage tightened up and it began to have an impact later on—like on his pick-six of quarterback Michael Penix Jr. He also showcased good matching capabilities while having some impressive man reps and tackles in space. You have to appreciate how well Ejiro Evero’s defense rallied to the football. Some runs that would, in the past, go for chunk yardage were contained. Tackling was improved on all three levels of the field. Wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan was once again the leader in receiving yards (48) on Sunday, but he struggled away from the box score with a couple of drops. As head coach Dave Canales noted Monday afternoon, the Falcons did a great job staying in phases on McMillan, especially at the top of routes. Rookie safety Lathan Ransom showed more flashes of control as a tackler. He continues to show the physicality that is needed in Evero’s defense while having the athleticism and downhill burst to click and close sideline to sideline or north/south. https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/panthers/2025/09/23/panthers-film-review-falcons-week-3/86308214007/
    • Horn + Jackson + Smith-Wade might be the best CB trio we've had in a minute.
    • I think we would have had a good shot. I believe at the time we had already traded for the first overall pick, so Baltimore could have then immediately get whatever replacement they wanted for Lamar in the draft or trade for someone else. I still am baffled we were one of the teams that put out that ridiculous statement about not pursuing Lamar.   Yeah, let’s not trade for the franchise carrying, mvp winning, all pro top 5 qb in league to help take this franchise higher places. They should have at least tried. They were willing to go all in on Watson but not Lamar, I don’t understand Tepper.
