In free agency, Ravens typically target players who are cut because they don't cancel out a compensatory pick for next year. That's why players who will be released -- like Leonard Floyd or Cooper Kupp -- could hold more value to Baltimore than players with expiring contracts.

Must be nice to be a consistently good team that can make decisions like that.

hey CheezeMo Dan you do realize we can still sign players right?

TBH, after the initial surge of deals, it's probably better to let the market settle down and do some value shopping. Not sure there are a lot of upper end FA's that fit what they seem to be doing.

While some of the top free agent QB names have established their 2025 addresses, Russell Wilson is an intriguing name whose case still carries some mystery. Those I've talked to still believe he's a viable option with the Giants, and that there's a reasonable chance he ends up back with the Steelers. Though Wilson is 36 and does not come off a vintage year, he did put up decent numbers (16 TD, 5 INT) for a playoff team and many around the league believe you can still win with him. All the available quarterbacks, including Wilson, are waiting on the Aaron Rodgers domino to fall. When it does, Wilson's situation will become clearer. -- Jeremy Fowler, senior NFL writer

Justin Simmons interested in two NFC East teams

The former All-Pro safety is currently a free agent and it appears that there are two teams he'd prefer to play for: The Eagles or the Commanders.

Simmons revealed that information on the "Talkin' Ball" podcast and you can check out his full comments here. With the Eagles trading away C.J. Gardner-Johnson, it will be interesting to see if they even contact the 31-year-old Simmons.

If Simmons went to Philadelphia, it would reunite him with Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. Simmons spent the first eight seasons of his career in Denver and three of those came while Fangio was head coach.

Honey Badger staying in New Orleans

The Saints haven't been signing many free agents, but they have been focusing on their own guys. One day after re-signing Chase Young, the team has worked out a new deal with Tyrann Mathieu, according to Saints beat writer Nick Underhill. The re-worked deal is a one-year contract that's worth up to $7.2 million. This deal takes the place of the two-year contract that Mathieu signed last offseason

Mathieu is heading into his fourth season with the Saints. The three-time Pro Bowler has started all 51 of New Orleans' games since signing with the team prior to the 2022 season

    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
