i havent been to TC at all and cant tell what they all look like- so help me out here, and be real..

Matt Moore has been in the league for 3 years now, right.. is he really leaps and bounds over Clausen?

Lemme say this though- i am all for Moore starting.. but by the time Clausen is in his 3rd year, shouldn't we expect him to be leaps and bounds over where Matt is now?

Clausen has the arm and the build of a good qb. Does he have the tools and talent to be good in this league I think so. But right now he Is a rookie and just watching him for the last 2 days I can tell u he has a lot of work to do and time will tell. In 3 yrs yes he might be an excellent NFL qb. But right now Matt Moore is leaps and bounds better then any qb on this team including clausen.

In theory, as stated above, it should be that way. But we won't know for three years.

Moore in his rookie year was a beast in pre-season:

21 for 29 ( 72.4% ) and 182 yards, 1 TD and 0 INT. He did lose 2 fumbles though. So despite his completion ratio, he had a 1:2 TD to Turnover ratio.

In 2008 ( year 2 ) he sucked pretty badly:

35 of 65 ( 53.8% ), 389 yards, 0 TDs and 3 INT. He fumbled once this year though.

Last season in the preseason:

16 of 29 ( 55.2% ), 173 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT. Fumbling one time and losing it.

So in three years of preseason action he has 72 completions on 123 attempts which is a 58.5% completion percentage. He had 2 TDs in three preseasons to go along with 5 interceptions and 4 fumbles. Losing three total. Thats a 1:4 turnover ratio. If Clausen isn't a little bit better than this in preseasons for this and next year I will be supremely disappointed.

theoretically jamarcus russell is better than any QB on our team.

fact is you never know what is going to happen.

Well yeah; everyone knows that draft order is the only deciding factor in who the best quarterback is. Duh! :mad2:

    • This is huge may not be a trap game but this plays a major part in what they want to do. If we can get some pressure on Sam we know what he does with pressure coming hit and heavy. Also we may be able to take the top off their defense a backup safety trying to stop TMac or Cooker over the top or forcing him to play the backend should allow us to run the ball somewhat effectively. Either they allow some runs or we take some shots and if Bryce and whoever can connect deep we’ll be in business for another big time win against a top notch opponent. Might not be a trap game but health travel game plans all play a major role in each weeks game plan and this week might be leaving our way. We’re missing some replaceable pieces they’re missing key anchors to the offense and defense major difference time to solidly ourselves at one of the top teams in the nfc tomorrow fellas buckle up.
    • Yes.  If I am not mistaken, we need to sign Coker to the ERFA tender and insist that XL spends his spring and summer at a WR camp and not Coon huntin on his four wheeler.  XL was raw when we picked him--which is why I wanted to go another direction--and we are seeing how raw.  He is basically learning a position.     The Panthers will make their move in 2026 to be an NFL powerhouse behind Bryce.  Bryce needs intelligent WRs who catch the ball.  That said, we need a solid #2 to challenge XL and make cutting him easy, if necessary.  A #2 WR (intented to be a #1 by now) with under 400 yards is embarrassing.   On offense, you have to ask, "Where can we get better?"  In my view, #2 WR, TE (although they are improving) and maybe C (again, if we re-sign Mays, he is trending up and at 26, entering his prime--I say stay with him and find competition later in the draft (not good for C).  OL depth maybe?  In other words, XL is a glaring weak spot.
