The Nick Hayden Project...

“Inside, I think we tried to address that last year in a sense that we traded our fifth- and sixth-round draft choices for Louis Leonard and Tank Tyler and we feel like they can help us. We picked up Derek Landri off waivers from Jacksonville at the end of the year and we have Corvey Irvin. And we signed Ed Johnson in the off-season. Andre Neblett is a rookie free agent out of Temple who has had a very good camp. So we’ll see. We have guys who can compete there and that is an interesting position to watch in the preseason.”

But no mention of Hayden in there...

no way krub was harder on hayden than me. i had lot sort of material on the fellow, all of which shared a simple principle; semi-wet mud puddle > nick hayden. nick was the 1,952 rank player in the nfl(i included practice squads)

BUT i must state he did play ALOT better in last few games. Even to thee point where i ranked him above other DTs:eek: No BS he looked and played the part of a 4th DT.

he was a project and was a good choice by the front office at that. anytime you get a hard worker that keeps his mouth shut, thats already 50% of the formula .

he was NOT a meast, in terms of core, hips, and legs. all of which WAAAAAY more important playing in teh trenches. shoulders, chest, arms = tarzan on juice .

When he was drafted he was the "strongest" DT in that draft class.

I think the idea was to bulk him up, give him work with his Point of Attack skills, and make him into a Carstens Clone. A decent at everything/ the starter needs a breather / 10 snaps a game kind of player. Problem is he got pushed into the lineup early and beat like a drum. Fox love charity cases that work hard, so I wouldn't be surprised if he lingers around longer than expected.

I think he also fit the Trgo system more then Meeks. He is like you said strong more then fast. If we would let him get bigger he prob would be decent but at his size right now he is going to get pushed around.

Well same goes for Taylor. He had a few sacks his rookie year as a Jack LB in Trgos system. He just dose not fit Meeks system very well though.

I could see us keeping 5 DTs

Louis Leonard

Derek Landri

Corvey Irvin

Ed Johnson

Tank tyler

I could definitely see us keeping those five guys. Of course, seems like we're keeping four quarterbacks and three kickers, so it only makes sense they'll keep four DTs. You know, considering it's our weakest position and all.

    • That's why I said stats aside. I lived in CO during Allen's college career and didn't have kids at the time so I watched most of his games. Bruh, I'm telling you. Balls just spraying all over the place. The type of throws where you're honestly trying to figure out who he was even trying to throw that one too. It was crazy. Richardson was inaccurate in college but at least you could tell who he was trying to throw it too. He threw a lot of early in the game Cam Newton type balls where it seemed like he was just a little too amped up and everything was a few feet high.
    • A lot can change over the next week, but here is my best 53-man roster (note: I'm just basing this on guys on the 90 man roster currently). Obviously there could be trades/ waiver claims/ FA signings.   Offense (25) QB (2): Bryce Young, Andy Dalton RB (3): Chuba Hubbard, Rico Dowdle, Trevor Etienne TE (4): Tommy Tremble, JT Sanders, Mitchell Evans, James Mitchell WR (7): Tetoria McMillan, Xavier Legette, Adam Theilen, Jalen Coker, Hunter Renfrow, Jimmy Horn, Brycen Tremayne  OL (9): Ikem Ekwonu, Damien Lewis, Austin Corbett, Robert Hunt, Taylor Moton, Cade Mays, Chandler Zavala, Brady Christensen, Yosh Nijman    Defense (25) DL (6): Derrick Brown, Bobby Brown, Ashawn Robinson, Tershawn Wharton, Sam Roberts, Cam Jackson OLB (5): DJ Wonnum, Pat Jones, Nic Scourton, Princely Umanmielen, Thomas Incoom  ILB (5): Trevin Wallace, Christian Rozeboom, Krys Barnes, Jon Rattigen, Claudin Cherelus S (4): Trevon Moehrig, Demani Richardson, Lathan Ransom, Nick Scott  CB (5): Jaycee Horn, Mike Jackson, Chau Smith-Wade, Corey Thornton, Shemar Bartholomew    ST (3): LS: JJ Jansen  P: Sam Martin  K: Matthew Wright    Would like to hear everyone's thoughts
    • He was a more accurate passer at 56.2%. That's what I mean. Even by outlier standards, this dude was inaccurate. Closest I can recall to something like that would have been one of those GT QB's like Reggie Ball. Career 48.6% passer.
