Four Panthers quarterbacks add up to zero

(By Scott Fowler, [email protected]) BALTIMORE -- The Carolina quarterbacks didn't exactly show a lot of offensive fire in the rain during the team's 17-12 exhibition road loss to Baltimore Thursday night.p/Some of the Panthers' quarterbacking problems were caused by the Ravens, who have an excellent defense that was made even more unpredictable by the fact Baltimore blitzed on almost every passing down.

I thought the QB's played well enough. The offensive line struggled quite a bit though, early with penalties, later with protection. Moore especially threw the ball very well, and his line would have looked better without those penalties. And if Clausen does start, he will be the most mobile starting QB that we have ever had.

Otah, Smitty, and Stewart out and pouring down rain. Not to mention first game. What do you expect? The offense will not be a problem this year because our Oline is the same and we will run the ball a gazillion times this year. Reality is Moore will not be asked to do a whole lot. If he can complete 3rd down pass plays and send a couple downfield he will be fine.

what most people seem to never remember is that Gross loves false starting in the Preseason so he can get it out of his system. he knows that it's something he's struggled with throughout his career, but the past few seasons I've noticed how he gets a lot of penalty flags thrown his way in the Preseason... which is where you want to make mistakes so you don't in the regular season. when Otah gets back, our line will be fine. and Moore will be just fine. I'm leaning towards jumping on the Clausen bandwagon though, but I won't make that decision until after next weeks game.

    • I think they have maxed out the run game.  What we saw the Saints do is basically the final  level of what a strong  run game gives you…..which is defenses comically overplaying it that should allow your pass attack to abuse a defense.
    • I'm confused. So coaches should be super forth coming with their injury information so fans shouldn't be angry? I haven't went back and forth with you in a while. Some of the hills you choose man.
    • I don't think this is the main issue to discuss because there's a bigger problem. I said this before the Saints game that as soon as a team sells out to stop Dowdle from beating them, we're all going to be reminded of how bad Bryce Young really is. The Saints had a very clear defensive gameplan to absolutely not let Dowdle beat them. They stacked the box and stayed home in the pass rush which caused Bryce to have several balls smacked down at the line and Bryce struggled to see the field. If it weren't for the roughing the passer penalty they wouldn't have scored a single point.
