Panthers will trade for a WR...

With Fox's status being up in the air....JR isn't gonna let them deal a RB for WR aid this season. If he is likely gone....they are gonna let the new guy make the big moves.

Maybe they let it happen assuming the new guy doesn't have the hard-on for RBs that Fox has.

I honestly think that the defense and running game will keep us in a lot of games this year. As miserable as our passing game (through no fault of Moore) will be, we will be in games because smitty takes away safeties in the box, which means our oline+rbs over their dline+lbs. I will take that matchup against most teams.

That being said, I can't think of another team in the NFL that has such a ridiculous drop from their #1 WR to their #2.

things i wouldn't mind....

trade sutton to the 49ers (to replace glen coffee) for josh morgan.

trade sutton to the packers for jordy nelson

trade sutton to the texans for jacoby jones

zod doesn't have a bad idea here. not sure why so many people are freaking out about this idea.

I would trade Goodson before Sutton. I think he has higher value too.

Some of us have officially built a personal friendship with Tyrell Sutton, and would be absolutely irate if they traded him.

Shh, don't let them know our true reasons!

Z, I don't quite understand what you're saying. On one hand you seem to be saying that we need to get a young Smitty "replacement", but on the other hand you are throwing out a line with Sutton on the hook, and expect to get a WR who has fair market value equal to Sutton, who is in no way equal to the value of Steve Smith in his prime.

What do you think that we're gonna do, continue to throw shat up against the wall and hope it sticks (kinda like this thread)? If we're going to get a Smitty-like receiver, we are probably going to have to acquire him in the draft (and knowing our FO, it's probably going to be with the following year's first round pick).

    • First, am I wrong? I looked back over all his posts here and I didn't see anything positive other than Shough. Second, pretty sure if you had read the post I was responding to, you would have seen CRA made poo personal as well . You just choose to address me instead of him. Not sure why?????
    • I wanted XL but I felt he should have been a 2nd rounder but I understand the logic trading up just to get the option. A safety net for your gamble.    Certainly disappointed with his receivers development but i like his down field blocking and I imagine that's what's keeping him on the field.
    • Pretty sure it is a given Young lacks typical QB size and strength and he is here simply because his other attributes more than make up for it. My point is not to indicate anyone "settled" for him but rather to remind people that there have been plenty of big, strong QB's that have not lived up to expectations. Jamis Winston, Anthony Richardson, Trey Lance, JaMarcus Russel are a few examples. They all have the physical attributes coveted by teams and yet none have had sustained success in the NFL. And yes, there are QBs that do have both but there aren't many and some of the ones still playing were failures with their early teams. Saying Young is a bust simply based upon his size (and I do think it is as simple as that for a few guys around here) is unfair to both him and the team.
