Is it fairly obvious to anyone else....

That the "Mountaineer" formation last night was more about selling the remaining tickets the Panthers have been desperately roadblocking on their website for a month and less about actual football?

lol @ pandering to the local alumni so much. Its the mountaineer formation! Please please please buy tix.

Pretty convenient that all the Panther Network announcers, both on radio and TV, already knew to call it the 'mountaineer' formation as soon as they saw it... Despite the last I heard that we weren't working Armanti in any packages yet b/c they wanted him to learn one position at a time. SMH...

I actually think it was more to give the Giants something new to think about and plan for.

hopefully you are right. Hopefully, that is also why Davidson ran his identical clone plays from last season all of preseason. Hopefully, week 1 we don't see any of it.

I think some fans find it hard to pay more money than last year when obviously some major budget cuts are being made and I agree. Our WRs look like poo and no money is being put in to help? Sounds cheap to me. I love my panthers and will watch them at home on my LCD surround sound, but if JR won't find money to spend neither should I.

and saint fan & Zod are right Armanti is a joke for a second rounder and an idiot move. So stupid one might believe it was simply done to push sales. I doubt everyone outside of NC who can't get over he is from here like half the team (probably to save even more money), thinks he was such a steal for his 'natural abilities'.

f**k the saints

I was impressed with his arm but not his running attempts... where are these quicks we heard about?

It's easy to look like a waterbug against D2 competition, but so far he's looked pretty darn average in the NFL.

I'm not an Armanti hater, I want to see him do well - but I've been pretty disappointed so far. I know he's learning the positions, etc but we should see his quicks right now and I don't see it.

We have a strong bandwagon fanbase

Everyone does really...

I think Cowherd, no matter what you think, hit it on the head.

Why should i pay my hard earned money to support a team, that doesnt do everything it can, to win? Why should i be loyal to mediocrity. If you continue to fill the seats to watch a bad product, they dont have much reason to improve.

If they really wanted to appeal to the local fan base, they should run their little known play called the UNC Charlotte.

First, the QB tries to hand it off to Hilee Taylor, but isn't good enough to get the ball to the UNC player in time. Then he rolls out, thinking he can hit Oliver Young, but of course he's not good enough to get it here either.

Finally, he decides to stay in the pocket and get a side job working at Chile's while he takes a knee, saying "don't worry, it will be better next play" and will spend the next two series telling everyone that it's what they really wanted to do in the first place and they couldn't be happier.

    • If you need someone to run your multi-billion dollar business, maaayyyybe don't hire a guy whose previous work experience includes repeated blows to the head and literal brain damage but IDK.
    • Extrapolate that with every QB for that matter. I guarantee you there's quite a bit of missed opportunities and yards left on the field for everyone. Many NFL QBs deal with WRs not putting in A+ effort, subpar o-line play and other deficiencies. The great ones are able to rise above these issues and create opportunities for plays. Guys like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes can both play in and out of structure, as well as find ways to get yards when things break down and mask mistakes by throwing guys open, creating opportunities from nothing, etc. Bryce Young has only shown he's able to make things happen when the rest of the team picks up his slack. Very rarely does he create those opportunities himself. When this is a consistent pattern year after year with Bryce where he shows up lackluster, it's a concern. This is year three and he should be elevating the team as a first overall pick this franchise traded up for.  He was far from elevating anyone against JAX. In fact, he needed others to elevate and create for him. Excuses may be fine for a rookie, but this is year three for the first overall pick. Not looking good so far.
    • I think the worst issue is coaching. Countless bad snaps, XL not getting his feet in or trying on runs plays, our centre being down field when he didn't need to be. All seem to be from poor coaching for me. I believe Canales is to soft to rip the players a new one when the fug up. Plus I honestly believe that Canales is slow getting his plays in giving Bryce less time to diagnose and adjust to the defence. Don't worry I could of head butted Bryce for that fumble and the 4th down throw aways but the other plays are explainable to me
