Giants.com Scouting Report for Panthers

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - The Giants will attempt to make some positive history Sunday when they host John Fox's Carolina Panthers in the first regular season game ever in the New Meadowlands Stadium. Both teams finished 8-8 and out of the playoffs last season – one year after they were the top two seeds in the NFC – but they had far different feelings when the season ended. The Giants lost their last two games, including a 41-9 defeat at the hands of the Panthers in their Giants Stadium finale. Carolina won its last three games, including the rout of the Giants and victories over NFC finalists Minnesota and New Orleans (the eventual Super Bowl champion). The Panthers lead the regular season series, 3-2, and the postseason series, 1-0. Carolina has a young team; only six players on the 53-man roster are 28 or older, while 29 of the 53 are 24 or younger. *

    • Yup. Hopefully  Brandon adds some muscle this off-season but he'll probably be resting his shoulder for a while so I doubt it. Miles should probably be replaced but I don't think we find a better 4th option to be honest. So is it better to add depth along side williams and Coby or try to upgrade the 4/5 . I think adding depth will probably be more beneficial than trying to upgrade starters and bank on Brandon and Kons continuing development. I really don't think they are going to make the playoffs unfortunately. I think the big hole they put themselves in has exhausted them. They've been amazing since January 1 but I think it's come at a cost and their legs are gone.
    • The issue is the predictability of it all in a Bryce Young led offense. In 4th down attempts the Jets were at 41 and we were at 40. And we were 4th in conversation %. We were 25th in the league in 3rd down conversion because we faced so many 3rd and longs in part due to playcalling on 1st and 2nd down but more largely due to the limitations that cannot be overcome.  And people want us to spend another 1st rounder on WR as if it is going to magically give Bryce physical talent he will never possess. It's a shame we cut off our own nose just to put ourselves in this frustrating predicament.
