A win Sunday and good '10 season=no Fox in '11

Our buddy Pat Yasinkas thinks if the Panthers beat the Giants and ruins their new stadium opening (not to mention the old stadium send off) in route to a decent (winning) season, Fox says 'see ya' to Mr. Richardson and the Panthers. This predicated on the Giants having a less than desirable sesaon, thereby firing Coughlin.

This brings up an interesting point that few are discussing...the coaches as a factor in Sunday's game.

Coughlin is one of the highest ranked coaches in the NFL, with like 103 wins under his belt. He, like Fox got an expansion team some props ( Jaguars ) and surely is well respected by our guys.

Consider that he is a offensive kinda coach, with his drive for passing excellence and yet a good ground pounder too. Fox being a defensive kinda guy and certainly not a big air ball thinker, so I see us getting one advantage with Fox. He is showing some sings of being a tad more inventive...just barely, but only 92% predictable this year

I'll give us the coaching advantage, and maybe it is all because Fox wants to put it in Richardson's face, or just wants some serious interest come EOS job offers!

By half time, if he's chewing his gum like there is no speed limit, we got troubles. However at the same time if you see Tom wealking all over the place giving the Giants his beady eye look...well the Giants have a long season ahead.

This may be a coaches game rather than a players game just in how they fix the weaknesses.

It's not necessarily a new theory. Others have said that if Fox does well, he'll go where someone will pay him more than the Panthers would.

And of course, the Giants speculation has been around forever. It went down some when Coughlin won a Super Bowl, but his failure to follow it up with at least a playoff season has cranked it up again.

For my part, a loss wouldn't surprise me too much on Sunday. Coughlin coached teams tend to come out of the gate strong. Unfortunately for Giant fans, they also tend to fade down the stretch.

I'm thinking you meant to say playoff win - the Giants were the #1 overall seed in the NFC in 08' the year after their Super Bowl victory.

Having a coach that can react to adversity (plan B) would be nice. Hope there is one out there for us.

if you look at how he turned this franchise around I think he's done a great job handling adversity. Think about all the seasons he's kept the team playing strong even when we were totally out of it 02,04,07,09???

It really dose not matter cause there will be a lockout next year. Richardson knows this and thats why he has not renewed anyone's contract.

Not necessarily true. We had an NFL agent come speak in my sports seminar class on Tuesday. He said he was told to prepare for a lockout by his superiors..BUT he said they were confident they would get a deal done before the season started, but just to be prepared it if did happen. He did say though that he was told a deal could be done by preseason next year. I think they are closer than everyone is letting on. fwiw

Heres a hint for you. If a deal isn't done by preseason next year, there will be no preseason next year.

Can't believe people here actually still read anything Yasinskas writes. Dude is like a sour little girl with a computer. This is the same guy that thinks Michael "One Hit" Wonder Turner is the best back in the division. By his calculations in his rankings, DeShaun Foster would've been the best back in the division in 2004.

    • Nussmeier shows all the qualities, but has a really bad game here and there. Sellers is raw, we will see how things play out.
    • Wait......CRA is now playing UP our receivers?
    • Well let's be realistic here. He could have taken one look at Bryce Young on tape and known what he was getting. As JackieLee stated his work with QB's like Geno Smith and Baker Mayfield is a big contributing factor in why he was hired. At the same time we also have to recognize other factors. Seemingly and realistically he was the only one seriously considering the job. And as far as "fixing" Bryce Young goes one entire staff has already gotten the axe over him. Frank Reich was vilified as possibly the worst head coaching hire ever. 2 years later the more we see of Bryce the more it looks like he was the problem. Right now we are at a true crossroads. We cannot just play out the season with Young and be a serious franchise. We have to try and see what we have in the young roster and firmly get some sort of look at Canales offense. At this point Dave Canales needs to earn the right to draft his own QB. So far he has developed bupkis at the most important position. And he and Dan Morgan made the decision to not give Bryce Young one iota of competition for the third year in a row. He cannot claim the cupboards are bare beyond his control.
