Bengals not giving Clausen much thought

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Per beat writer Paul Deener, interviewed on Frank and Buck.

The team reportedly feels comfortable going with 8 or 9 in the box and leaving corners Leon Hall and Jonathan Joseph on an island against Panther receivers. Clausen, he says, doesn't really scare them.

Naturally, we hope that proves to be a huge mistake. Objectively speaking though, is there any real reason for them to feel otherwise?

Its the correct way to gameplan... you never want to let a team beat you with their best player/strength. They want to make clausen throw the ball, they realize were pretty one dimensional, and want to exploit that. Great running teams can run even when gameplanned against, our o line needs to step up. But at the same time you gotta take what they are giving you, that will be clausens job this week.

He has to prove he can push the ball down field.

I have no doubt he can throw the short stuff but I want to see a deep ball.

I don't. I want to see a turnover free game. Clausen's deep stuff ain't his strength and those CBs in Cincy are nasty.

This ties right into my first thread which didn't get a lot of love  but it's cool I have to come harder next time. Panthers stomp bengals mark it down etc. they cant pay him to much attention with no ACTUAL TAPE on him we will win I repeat we will win this game because they cant take him serious untill he does something on the field to make them. Last year MM was in the same boat and the games were less meaningful but thats how football goes. If our qb doesnt stink it the f up we should win last week with four picks they still should have lost that game if you are lucky enough to have the ticket you would have seen 85 and 81 aren't really doing much gresham might make me break bottle or two but we will see soon enough.

    • You know, there's something about this whole JAG thing that really just drives home the idea that to some folks, these players aren't real people, just names and stats.  Of course, it goes beyond sports. We're a sad, jaded species, us humans.
    • I hope we get no featured games, or only one if that's still a thing Don't like having to subscribe to a service just to see the panthers play a single game, i'm looking at you peacock Football is made for sunday afternoons Word
    • Yeah, it's just dumb. Everything is year to year. I never understood how anyone could stay engaged as a Kentucky fan or duke fan as duke became a one and done factory like Calipari made Kentucky. The thing I liked at about UNC is that we primarily focused on recruits likely to play multiple years. We'd have pur occasional one and done but most of our pros still played multiple years. And the days of the Stackhouses, Wallace, Jamison, Carter, etc. playing multiple years is just over. And now you have your role players entering the portal every year to test the waters elsewhere. I don't blame them for looking out for themselves but just personally speaking I'll run out of interest quickly trying to get to know a whole new roster year over year.
